@DCMS @lisanandy really important that this is addressed - otherwise it renders all the warm words about the creative industries meaningless #musiccreators
Only days left to protect music creators from AI exploitation The Gov't consultation on AI & copyright closes Feb 25. They want to let AI use creators' work without permission or payment. Read more:

Completely agree - warm words will do nothing to support our industry, whereas meaningful action and investment will drive the growth the govt craves. @DCMS

Creators can hardly be expected to scour the entire internet, opting out of their content being used - it should be the other way around, with creators giving permission when they choose to. Government needs to rethink this urgently. #AI #musiccommunity

This is where even modest support for smaller venues can really help underpin the live music circuit - we’ve lost too many in recent years #livemusic
Being a musician can be incredibly tough. The Musicians' Census revealed that 44% of musicians see unsustainable income as a major career obstacle. With the current economic uncertainty, these challenges are even tougher. Read more:

A fabulous musician who effortlessly guided us all @E_N_O through Die Soldaten back in the 90’s. I listened endlessly as a kid to his remarkable arrangement of Pictures at an exhibition for the Philip Jones Ensemble (bootleg cassette of the proms!) RIP
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Elgar Howarth, who has passed away at the age of 89. A PRS member since 1972, Howarth was an esteemed conductor / composer who left an indelible mark on the musical world.

Will be good to get further details but on the face of it this is some concrete action to support creative industry - if the government want growth they’re right to look at one of Britain’s most successful sectors #creativeindustry via @variety

Playing ‘classical’ music has shown to reduce anti social behaviour in public places - would be interesting to see if particular composers or pieces had more effect - is it harder to do a drug deal to the strains of voi che sapete or night on a bare mountain?!? #classicalmusic
We support this tactic of @metpoliceuk advising to play classical music as one thing to try, alongside reporting the crime

Hands up who’s going to tell her about Pope Joan….?!
Just made the huge mistake of watching the much-celebrated “Conclave” & it is the most disgusting anti-Catholic film I have seen in a long time. Shame on Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci & John Lithgow for starring in it & shame on director Edward Berger (among others). “Spoiler:” They make THE POPE INTERSEX! This is the big exciting twist at the end. I wish I had known so I wouldn’t have watched it. There are almost no redeeming characters in the movie - every cardinal is morally bankrupt/repulsive. The only exception of course is the intersex pope (who - surprise! - has female reproductive parts) & the cardinal who keeps her secret - bc of course that kind of Catholic secret-keeping must be lionized. I’m disgusted. What a thing to release to streaming just in time for Christmas. They would never do this to Muslims, but Christians/Catholics are always fair game to mock/belittle/smear.
