10 years ago today, I started Java Foods. I left corporate law behind, moved back to Zambia and decided that I was going to create jobs, local brands & great food products. It’s been quite a journey. Thank you
#Zambia
& my network who have supported us! Onwards & Upwards

I started

Was honoured to be invited to attend dinner with MD

#Zambia

@IMFNews

I started my business almost 8 years ago & not many banks were willing to take a risk on me or my crazy biz idea. But

Dollar is out of control ...racing towards K15.What a year - our inputs increased by over 120%, we have no power, inflation in double digits and now kwacha has decided it has had enough & wants to teach us a lesson. Is there light at end of tunnel??
Celebrating another record year of sales of leading instant noodle brand
@eeZee

#Zambia
for choosing high quality, great tastes and flavours over all the noise!! Looking forward to 2024 - watch out for our next big BOOM!
#eeZeeYoPaka
Meanwhile we celebrate record profits for banks in
#Zambia
but ask SMEs what they borrow at - and realistically ask yourself if they will survive the load shedding, impact of devaluation of currency on raws, high fuel/distribution costs & inflation (consumer pressure) 🤷🏽♀️
This weekend alone I know three people who have died of
#COVID19
. This is the time to be vigilant - insist on physical distancing, avoid crowds (God knows what’s in our heart people), wear your masks all the time and sanitize or wash your hands frequently.Don’t listen to the idle
After such a tough year, grateful for another year. Blessed beyond. Thanks for all the birthday wishes & love. Amara loves birthdays and blowing candles. Such fun being a kid.

So I am going to say it, manufacturing is just hard - between fighting with raw material suppliers abt pricing (& now quality issues),to dealing with machine break downs & how to get spares in ASAP,to figuring out production & stock variances & then managing sticky fingers

Am totally emotional. The election of President
@HHichilema
represents a new dawn, a chance to do things over for the better & a chance to reunite our country. We believe in him, his vision & leadership. As private sector, we pledge to work with your Govt.

What a day. My nanny fell ill & ended up being admitted in hospital. She needed blood & I immediately went to the blood bank.
#Zambia
please donate. There is a serious shortage. You just never know when you might need help. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Not all heroes wear capes. Over the years we have seen ordinary people speak up and point to wrong doing & bear the wrath of PF. But they persisted, stood for what they believed & fought for all of us. We recognize you today

@LindaKasonde
@iampilato
@PamChisanga
I started my business 8 years ago and 7 friends and family supported me and become my angel investors. Really appreciated their trust in me at a time I was rather clueless & there were so many uncertainties. Today, I joined a group of

has a five day weekend this weekend (women’s day, youth day and one extra day for good fortune). Then Easter break at end of month. total of 18 working days this month. And we question why we are not productive.
I am the daughter of a professor of literature & languages so books were a major part of my childhood. My mother still has my first books. Today she handed to me my first Dr Seuss book

Another year around the sun. Grateful for good health, great family & friends, exciting opportunities ahead! Was thinking back a few moons ago celebrating my birthday in Gboko, Nigeria eating Mr.Biggs and drinking champage in a plastic cup. Do you remember
@TonyTonyhadley
This time last year, I stood in line for 6 hours waiting for my turn to cast my vote. Glad to have played my part to usher in democratic change…now
@HHichilema
make it count!
I try to do customer visits at least once a month. Today I am visiting some of our big Lusaka wholesalers. These guys are moving thousands of packs across the country. Proud of our long relationship with them & their support in making eeZee a leading brand.
So I wanted to ask has anyone had any joy at Ministry of Lands to get certificates of title. I am really frustrated!!! 😡😡Does anyone realize how these delays are hampering business as we are unable to show title/ownership to raise finance.

Done and dusted 2020 Absa Virtual Marathon. 10k and I can still feel my legs!! 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ Great to see so many people participated this morning. Lots of waves and cheering along. Well done
@AbsaZambia
Am I hearing correctly. Friday has been declared a holiday. With loadshedding reducing the number of productive hours, we could have really done without this holiday.
Off to Mulungushi University to speak at their Career Fair. Speaking abt what I would tell my younger self if I was graduating today. Also those who know me, know i am always chasing time. But the dean knew who to speak to so couldn’t refuse 🤔
As 2018 draws to a close, I reflect on what a profound year it has been for me personally & for Java Foods - a business I built from scratch 6 years ago. Totally filled with gratitude & strong sense of self. I can achieve all things through Christ whom strengthens me
#resilience
Was honoured to be invited by
@WorldBank
#SOAR
to lend my voice to discuss what local food companies in

Am in Cairo today at the invitation

One thing I have realized being a business leader is that you show up in times of crisis. You speak directly to your team, you take questions, you encourage, you allay fears. You SHOW up. We held a townhall today & I realized that people are really misinformed about
#COVID19
.
Young Phiroz has been a customer of
@javafoods
for many years. His story is one worth telling - he has built his business from scratch & now has more stores than he can count & a big employer. His is a story of perseverance & tenacity. So much one can learn
#Entrepreneurship
Actually this class are full of high achievers - several Judges, eminent private & corporation lawyers, DPP, entrepreneurs, Bretton Woods & UN lawyers, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Clerk of the National Assembly, Deputy Governor of BOZ, DG ZICTA, PS Justice
I was reminded today that we are twenty something 🤣 years at the Zambian Bar! Though I don’t practice, it is something I am very proud of. My class has done exceptionally well - judges, senior lawyers, academicians, entrepreneurs etc & we are all great friends.
Attended the Valedictory Ceremony for lawyer Nicholas Chanda at the Supreme Court. Was at law school with him & was a formidable character even then.Wore a wig & gown for the first time in 20 years. Fare thee well Nick. Fondly remembered.

So instead of delivering on development projects and increasing capacity you want to now control what we do in our homes with power we pay for. Never heard anything like it. 🤷🏽♀️
What it's like to raise £3.5m & have a baby at the same time>> my investors sent this to me.We have just finished a financing round & I literally went from conference call to Labour room & then back on calls a week later.

No one could have predicted that we would face so many challenges in 2020. I am often asked by my employees & mentees what the crisis is teaching me - how to manage in a crisis which seems to have no end & is affecting life as we know it.
Every morning this life size bear gives me a fright & makes me think there is someone else in the house…things your kids love that drive you crazy 🤷🏽♀️ Good Morning Tweeps
Rest in Eternal Peace Mr. Michael Mundashi SC, my mentor, strong supporter and Chairman. The Quintessential Gentleman. A true example of State Counsel. A real leader. You ran your race. May God grant you eternal rest. We will miss you. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
So what I find interesting is that we have had months of terrible loadshedding - people going over 15 hours without power & no press conferences or words of comfort to speak to consumers by the ZESCO leadership.But a political misstep and we have statements, radio interviews.
Making the Zesco MD go on radio to state that a politically inconvenient fact he stated is not true, is exactly why Zambia is such a mess. It is not that technocrats do not know what to do. They are bullied & humiliated by a PF that cares only about its tattered image. Gosh!!
Mwisho, day two of general aimless loitering.
I passed through this powerful Zambian brand and got two boxes of eeZee noodles for my daughter.
I was handed some extra goodies.
📍: Ku Show Grounds
Yesterday I was in a panic as the transformer by the main factory was vandalized & we had no power.Every day we don’t produce, we lose money & my fear was that the utility would be slow to resolve the situation!Being told power has been restored. ZESCO can sometimes surprise you
