Many thanks to everyone who played, shared, and gave feedback on the demo 🖤
I'll be working on a major stability and optimization patch with my co-dev over the next several days, so goodbye until then 👋
The Full Fathom steam page is up, please wishlist!
Full Fathom is an oceanic survival horror game. Pilot a deteriorating submarine as it drifts through grim waters, keeping it maintained as it is your only lifeline in the hostile merciless ocean.

Given that a majority of Steam users (even as of Feb 2024) have 1080p as their monitor resolution, I think we're actually better off having 4K textures as a separate download.
We've lost a great tool today. So I figured I would share the alternatives that I use to my fellow devs

My favourite texture site has removed free daily credits and is now subsciption only... That's another step by giant corporations to squash little indie artists. Well fucking done you greedy bastards. Soon it'll cost $9.99 to start my PC in the morning...
Google DeepMind just dropped 'Genie', an AI that can generate interactive video games.
This is a huge deal.
Genie is trained on 200,000 hours of unsupervised public internet gaming videos and can generate video games from a single prompt or image.
But here's what's insane:
I made a teaser trailer for Full Fathom, the oceanic horror game I'm developing. If this peaks your interest maybe drop it a wishlist?

The Twitter Dark Age is nearly upon us.
In light of this, I come bearing a collection of indie horror games, immsims, and others, that are currently in development. If you see something you like, why not give them a follow?
Up first is 14 indie horror games 🧵
More people should play Sunless Sea
It has one of the best atmospheres and worldbuilding I've seen in a game + Its 66% off right now
Its been a major inspiration for us when making Full Fathom
Generally tired of these posts, so I'm not going to get into it. It always seems surrounded by a lot of quick judgments.
This info seems prudent to share though:

Industry Experienced 3D Animator here, the Actual model is decimated, the High Poly doesn't show up In-Engine, and there are only 4 of them in-game Max, hope this helps 👍
I swear I see them everywhere.
The games themselves are usually well done, but it's gotten to the point where these characters immediately disengage me from a project. Its like hearing the Wilhelm scream in a film
Apologies to anyone who likes Fred the snail, but it looks like he has to go.
While I'm at it, I'll get rid of all other "unrealistic" things in Full Fathom. Such as the windows in the sub, the water color, and the diegetic inventory
@monad_of_eirye
Nice atmosphere. But about the snail. Nature doesn't do any extra work, all excessive parts are reduced by evolution. That snail has semi-disfunctional antennas and a trunk, which seems excessive, and therefore -- artificial
Alright, 'The Terror' was amazing, it does an incredible job of conveying the pure hostility and otherworldly nature of the Arctic. Very comparable to 'The Thing' in that regard.
Definitely something to add to the Spooktober watch list if you haven't seen it.

Not sure if this will be useful to anyone, but here are my loose findings in trying to get across massive scale in Full Fathom:
(why the shot on the right works so much better)

I'm at the point in my dev career where I've made 2 giant worms, for 2 different projects.
They're my best gauge to determine where I've improved as a developer
