Hi there #EconTwitter, @WelcomeEcon I'm a @NUEconomics PhD student and I'd like to tell you about my job market paper, "Computationally Tractable Choice". It's a new framework that applies powerful models from computer science to make sense of findings in behavioral econ. š§µšš½

@alz_zyd_ To each their own, but imo CS is very much empirical science. Itās about what kinds of problems can be solved by *some* physical process, and what resources the process needs to solve it. Yes CS works with abstractions and has favored applications, but same holds for Econ.

@JessicaHullman @beenwrekt Yeah, absolutely true in econ as well. Even for de jure department-wide decisions like hiring. I liked that the CS colloquium at NU was at least not area-specific... well, afaik!

@JessicaHullman @beenwrekt Itās even more fun since micro is split into several subcategoriesā¦ public, labor, IO, health, education, and so on :) I assumed this was ubiquitous. Psychology seems to have a lot of labels too. Cognitive, social, JDM, developmental, etc.
