This is why this has resonated with me so much and why I felt compelled to comment my personal experience. Being a victim of rape is a monster in and of itself that no one should ever have to experience. But then to be shamed and vilified by the very people who have the power to protect you while simultaneously watching those who violated you beyond comprehension go without justice is really the nail in the coffin. Many victims have a hard time coming back from that. If not for Jesus finding and pulling me out of the depths of my despair at my lowest moment I would have been one of those statistics.

@wcouts @RepNancyMace Not all branches call their on base junior enlisted housing “barracks.” Yes, all of my neighbors were male with the exception of one who was my suite mate (we shared a bathroom).

I have nothing to gain by sharing my truth except for the rehashing of wounds that will never fully heal. As a “Roman Catholic” I pray that God will examine your heart and help you to have a character that is reflective of Jesus. It is apparent that you are a fig tree with leaves but with no fruit. As a “wife, mother, and memaw” I pray no one in your family ever experiences the horror of having their body violated and the relentless invisible scars that plague the mind for years after. Most importantly I pray they never experience what it feels like to be called sick and a liar for finding their voice, even in anonymity.
