LESS 2.0 is out. It has many improvements! ( I confess that my own contributions are very small. There are new team members: The code changes are largely from Floyd Zweydinger and Tung Chou invented some clever stuff. )

A new undersea cable damage, this time between Sweden and Latvia, highlights the need to increase our ability to protect critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea. We will continue to work with our allies and partners.

NIST added "external interfaces" (i.e. the actual user API-accessible functions) to their test vector suite for ML-DSA and SLH-DSA today, so I added them to the free python code as well: These are complete functional models of FIPS 203, 204, 205.

Personally I'd prefer to use permutation-based cryptography (specifically Keccak's f1600 permutation, with perhaps reduced rounds) for the use cases where this "wide-block AES" is envisioned. But hey, if they standardize it, we'll support it :)

New professor experience: It's the abstract submission deadline at ACM CCS 2025 and the young PhD student main author has updated our abstract 10 times within the last 24 hrs (he probably doesn't realize that I get email notifications every time.) But I very much approve!☺️

@veorq Patents are much more a part of the daily engineering life in the semiconductor business than in other fields. At PQShield I was very happy that I could still publish, but only after filing! At RISC-V we need to be super careful because the industry is like this.

@veorq If this is what I think it is, the lawyer "input" was related to (PQCrypto 2023) and (SAC 2023) -- the relevant patents were filed before Melissa was involved. We put that stuff into commercial hardware.

Well, 910. I cleaned up the list further. It kind of sucks that some people still don't include DOI links to help automate this.

Heh, since it is the golden ratio 1/φ = φ - 1 after all, it's appropriate that it doesn't matter if you invert it. For both φ=(√5±1)/2 = 1.618.. and 0.618.. have (φ⁴-φ⁻⁴)⁴ = 2025.
