RTN4IP1 was the first gene I worked on, so excited to share our discovery that it regulates both mitochondrial complex I assembly and coenzyme Q biosynthesis. Amazing job by Monika & Rachel that highlights the importance of synergy between patient-focussed and basic research.

@RyanLab_MBU @ChristianGPeace @mitodynamics Thanks!! No we don’t yet. NLRP3 was one of the hits from the screen though, and MAPL is known to SUMOylate NLRP3 from work by Pascal Meier’s group, so it’s probably the strongest candidate we have right now and something we will definitely test
