Every month we organize a monthly event where people can learn and play with new AI tools in LA (and SF coming soon). It’s been a real joy to grow a community of people who want to create and experiment with new tools.

Literally, the film AI. Others include:
* Her - to a certain extent, altho it could be interpreted as Dystopian
* Wall-E - of course
* The Very Pulse of the Machine - a short film. orthogonal but brilliant
* Chappie & Short Circuit - 2 sides of the same coin
* Bicentennial Man

I think the dilemma is that if Drake does sue, he plays right into Kendrik’s painting of him as a corporate rapper that isn’t from the culture?
New AI film!
I hate the act of traveling. But I still want to go to new places. So here’s my pitch: Nap Teleportation. You pop a pill and our professional concierge service will get you exactly where you need to be, while you’re sleeping the entire time. It’s a multi-billion

Sometimes you land on a design that just works. The smartphone is so powerfully resilient. All people want is a better and better screen and a better and better camera. And then the internal organs are really what differentiate and are less commoditized.
That period on
@Clubhouse
when there were just less than 10k people on the app felt intimate and special. I wonder if it is possible to simulate that across other apps, communities, and experiences. The serendipity of scarce tight groups rather than the scale of followers…🧵
Presenting “We Finally Found You”, another AI sci-fi short film by yours truly telling the story of an alien race and their perspective on humanity and their gratitude for our existence.

I don’t think thi’s is as big of a deal as it seems. Google regularly surfaces “newsy” type content relevant to your search and has been doing so for years. If you search for Tom Cruise, it’s going to surface to you the latest that Tom’s been up to, including MI7. It’s doing the

FWB Fest this year! Easily one of the best conferences I’ve ever been to. Such great friends, music, and breathtaking experiences.
I made another short film! "Grandpa's Telescope" - a young artist finds his grandfather's telescope and looking in warps his mind.
This is a story I've been working on for many years. It's one of my favorite stories and an homage to my father, James, and grandfather. Submitted
I started tweeting from an anonymous writing account. I write fictional short stories and poems. It’s been very liberating to be creative without my identity attached to it. Sadly, telling you would defeat the purpose. So it’ll forever be a secret.
Amazing talk today at

. Have to rearrange my schedule now. Loved every minute. And I ended up winning the quiz! Guessed

I think there should be a group chat for everyone who is here for NFT NYC but wants to hang out after midnight for pizza somewhere in Lower Manhattan every night after the parties burn out. Who is in.
#NFTNYC
I went to an AI on the Lot conference yesterday for AI and Hollywood folks and my good friend was like…”you should go to Burning Man this year. You’re going this year.”….so…it’s happening. I’m a total noob. Who’s going?! Open to tips, invitations, and new friendships.

I agree. Love Asimov and his optimistic take on society and technology. Apple’s Foundation sadly has become unwieldy. And films like I, Robot do not at all do his work justice. For some reason, people tackling Asimov’s work too often depart from the intent.
I also love the Last
I think every web3/NFT project/community should throw a festival, a pop up display of the culture and community embedded behind the art and collecting. Been loving

The most enduring experiences I’ve had on certain apps were those early periods in the very beginning (fb, Twitter, ch, etc.) where I made close friends, made memories, and had moments that somehow felt historic.

Easy. Demographics: Young people. I lived there for 10 years, starting in 2007. Vietnam was the youngest fastest growing country in Southeast Asia at that time. Nothing beats a baby boomer population. Remember, 1975 is when the war ended. Accounting for war recovery, 1980 + 20
@JoshConstine
I think tech moved so fast and became so influential that being progressive took a backseat to less regulation and government interference, which naturally aligned with more right leaning politics. I think the politics of tech people just gravitates to whatever politics is
@Scobleizer
Yes but also the algo seems to be getting worse. I think TikTok has been brilliant because it asks less of the user to constantly get great content in front of your eyes. I think a product has a problem if it’s forcing you to adapt to it, it leads to inevitable churn. Sure, power
It seems like the US is in a Cold War with China but Americans don’t act like it. Too busy infighting & distracted. What I’d love to see again is an American spirit that wants to get up and work harder than ever to put America at the front and center of business and innovation.
Had so much fun running Gen Battle at AI on the Lot in LA yesterday! Its the 4th one we’ve hosted now, connecting newbies and experienced AI creators together to learn new tools on the fly. We’re doing these once a month now so keep a look out if you’re interested in joining.
I can’t take seriously reviewers of
@rabbit_hmi
r1 and
@Humane
ai pin that are using the argument that these products are incomplete to dismiss them.
You could say the same thing about literally every AI service and product right now, including

The things people complain about crypto are very much alive and present in the non-crypto economy. The main difference is, it’s not all visible to everyone. We tend to find out later, in small amounts, via the justice system.
Thinking a lot about an old dear friend recently. She passed away roughly 3 years ago, in early 2020. Just before the pandemic hit. She was such a bright star, I often wonder what she would have done if she was still here. 3 years ago feels not so long ago, and yet it feels like
Amazing time last night learning about what the growing

community is working on! Tons of projects from AI films to apps to musical collaborations.
The degree to which web3 people tolerate
@telegram
@discord
and
@Twitter
is a huge advantage this space has over most industries. The bar is low on user experience. A huge opportunity for people to build for this high tolerance group, willing to try almost anything digital.
The for and against arguments for web3 have come off ineffectual for me for the past few months, but it’s ultimately the boundless creativity I feel in the space that really keeps me falling in love. I don’t think I’ve seen this kind of creativity and innovation anywhere else.
@ianbremmer
But it does seem more complex than just that. But to be fair to the above, Texas is crushing it in production of clean energy and reducing its emissions.
@GaryMarcus
Is that what’s he’s saying? Seems like he’s saying the opposite, that we aren’t taking the potential economic impact seriously enough.
@sama
I find the over enthusiasm for NFT’s to be just as damaging as the anti-NFT dialectics. Altho I love the space so much, building and collecting, I think raising peoples expectations really high as they take huge risks with their money can be rather disingenuous & dangerous.
The chaos of web3/crypto juxtaposed against the chaos of building a web3 company is the most thrilling thing I’ve ever done in my life. But it’s also so stressful and tiring. I don’t recommend it for the faint of heart. But it’s been so life changing I can’t get enough of it.
I want a random shuffle setting for

and other social audio products where if a room ends, I am automatically sifted to another audio room so that I don’t have to manually find the next one and click on it to continue listening.
Working on a meditation/mindfulness related web3 project and in need of a technical cofounder or engineer who would be down to build a simple web-based prototype. Would anyone be interested? Feel free to hit me up in the DM’s.
Life update. Have so many things cooking at the same time, in some things, there are too many chefs, in other things, there’s not enough ingredients. But by the end of this year, I’m hoping to eat gourmet.
Events I’m most likely going to in 2024:
July 11: Diversity in AI
July 25: Llama Lounge
Aug 1-4: FWB Fest
Aug 25-Sept 2: Burning Man
Sept 26-28: MCON
Oct 7-13: SF Tech week
Oct 14-20: LA Tech week
Oct 22-23: TED AI
Also, monthly Gen Battles:

started to lose itself around the time when

came on the Good Time show, this accelerated the app too fast and caused a number of subsequent unforced errors. People have plenty of theories on why the app suffered before and after this point though.

If the main feed cannot stand on its own that is an indictment on the algorithm behind it. Agreed that heavy curation will help, but the main feed is the main way the majority of users interact with this platform. As long as the feed fails, users will complain & churn.
I’ve been helping with a new edtech platform focused on teaching anyone how to use any AI! We basically research all the tools out there and teach you all the most useful ones. An exciting new journey ahead!

I don’t think chatgpt is that snappy. Haha. But here’s chatgpt’s answer.
But it did point out a great film! Ghost in the Shell! At first, it seems like an evil entity and turns out to be quite benevolent and (r)evolutionary.
What is the point of holding an NFT if you cannot get into an event or claim merch without racing against everyone else who also owns that NFT? Do NFT’s give you access or do they give you more homework?
I think film theaters should show TV shows.I would buy a season pass to see a season of Succession or The Bear or whatever at 6p every Thursday, one episode, at my local theater.

xAI was never on the table for Apple. At worse, they would have gone with Claude or Gemini. Worst comes to worse, Mistral or Meta AI. xAI isn’t even in the top 5 LLMs.
A handful of frens and I just applauded the developers on the last Merge call for Ethereum. It’s wild how this casual Zoom call is the foundational underpinning of a blockchain with an over $200 billion market cap. It’s really special. Here’s to ETH! 🍻
Wow. MrBeast is within 5mil subs of T Series, the largest YouTube Channel by subscriptions. In other words, he’s less than a month away from being the largest YouTube channel on earth. T Series is a music/news channel specifically targeted at Indian users. MrBeast is “one” guy.
Can AI become a Buddha?
This is the first part of a multi-part video series. How would an AI go about becoming a Buddha if we look at Buddha’s life and choices, what constitutes awakening for an AI? And why is this a goal worth going after, that’s different from AGI, ASI, and
I see a lot of people getting covid from NFT NYC. I also saw a lot of unmasked people at indoor parties. Maybe NFT NYC should be organized during Halloween, more excuses to wear masks indoors, less covid. Or just give an NFT to anyone who wore a mask.

A great Chrome extension that checks on purchases or interactions on your wallet before you sign. Makes you feel just a little bit more safe when you’re interacting with unknown smart contracts.
