Great to see the indefatigable
@EdMarkey
this morning in Winchester as part of his whirlwind visits to communities across the Commonwealth. Social distancing thumbs up all around from his young fans as the great Senator personally delivered a lawn sign to a supporter.
To think that last year my wife told me that my
@HulkHogan
bandana from 1988 had outlived its useful life and it was time for me to let it go.
No way, brother!

Dad passed away last night, surrounded by us in love. We are mourning a world without Joe Day but are celebrating his remarkable life and the family he led with such pride.
Mom and Dad, now reunited, are undoubtedly raising a ruckus upstairs.
Yesterday
@RonMariano
appointed me the House Chair of the Committee on The Judiciary & named
@RepChynahTyler
Vice Chair. I look forward to working with my Vice Chair & my colleagues to address many issues before us & am grateful for the confidence the Speaker has placed in us.
A few things are true:
1) I'm a wicked big baby;
2) It was actually painless; and
3) Now that everyone is eligible in MA, everyone should sign up for the vaccine.
Second shot scheduled for May 10, then two weeks later I get to hug Mom for the first time in a year!
#GetVaccinated
Thank you to the voters of Stoneham & Winchester for your votes! I look forward to continuing to serve you in the Legislature! Thanks to all volunteers. Here are three young ladies (proving that age is a mental state) who braved the cold today & helped push us over the top!
Thank you to the voters of Stoneham and Winchester for re-electing me to the position of State Representative! I sincerely appreciate your support and will work every day to honor your votes. Thank you!
I just spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives urging my colleagues to pass a House rule requiring members and staff to disclose their vaccination status or receive a medical or religious exemption before coming back to the building in person.
THREAD:
So great to welcome members of the
@TheBostonPride
, two-time and defending Isobel Cup winners, into the State House during session today. Congratulations again on bringing home another championship and we will be rooting you on for the hat trick next season!
A snowy day is as good a day as any to pass landmark climate change legislation and send it back to the Governor for signature. Thanks to
@RonMariano
and
@KarenSpilka
for their commitment to prioritizing this issue.
Like my wife, you may be wondering why I busted out the red 1970's blazer today. I'm all in on
#WearRedDay
to help raise awareness that heart disease is the
#1
health threat to women. Visit , & thanks
@MAWomensCaucus
&
@AmericanHeartMA
for your leadership!
Mom passed away last night, with all of us surrounding her. While our hearts are unbelievably heavy as we mourn her passing, we are already celebrating the life she so beautifully led.
Honored to assume the position of Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee in this legislative session and very appreciative of the vote of confidence from
@SpeakerDeLeo
and all of my colleagues. Great work ahead of us under the leadership of Chairwoman Claire Cronin!
#mapoli
We won!
Thank you to all of the voters and supporters who helped put us over the top today and are sending me back to the State House. I appreciate your votes and will honor them by working tirelessly to move our district and our Commonwealth forward. 1/2
Today, I chaired the Committee on the Judiciary's first hearing in the 192nd legislative session. My sincere thanks to all who participated, testified, & to Speaker
@RonMariano
for the opportunity to serve. To watch today's hearing, click the link below:
Every other year, on the traditional final day of formal session, my friend & colleague
@Muradian4Rep
rolls in with the seersucker suit & dominates the field with his sartorial splendor. This year, with everything upside down, I decided to try to catch him. The polls are open...
I've learned that our police officers have had to devote time to breaking up parties in the past 24 hours. To those allowing or hosting these or allowing your children to attend, a few simple requests:
Stop being idiots.
Stop being selfish.
Practice social distancing.
Grow up
This is bananas. Rest assured we are working cooperatively here in
#Massachusetts
between
@MassGovernor
,
@MA_Senate
& our House Leadership team under
@SpeakerDeLeo
& will continue to do so. There are clear lines of communication, a productive exchange of ideas and mutual respect.
Before, Trump told the states to figure out how to secure supplies on their own. Today, MA governor Charlie Baker tells Trump his state tried to bid on supplies -- but was outbid by the federal govt. Despite the moment exposing a lack of planning, Trump laughs it off.
Say hello to Ogilthorpe, our newest rescue mutt. "Oggie" is 6 months old, has about 15 different breeds in him & is prone to epileptic seizures & eating socks. O'Reilly, our 4 year-old rescue mutt, is now a senior statesman in the house. I sink another rung down on the ladder...
I was thrilled to welcome the State Champions into the State House today!
Winchester High's Boys Varsity Lacrosse team visited for a tour of the State House, pizza and recognition in the House Chamber during formal session.
Congratulations and best of luck this season!
Last week, I was honored Speaker Mariano reappointed me as House Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary. Representative Christine Barber of Somerville was chosen as Vice Chair. Our colleagues confirmed these appointments by acclamation.
I met with
@GabbyGiffords
today to discuss her thoughts on how to improve firearm safety laws in Massachusetts and the country. Congresswoman Giffords is indefatigable in her efforts to turn her personal tragedy into positive change for all. I am in awe of her perseverance.
"So forget for a moment all those dispiriting stories of exclusion and bullying that clog our daily newsfeeds and revel instead at what’s happening at Stoneham, to appreciate what it looks like when the system works..."
4th Annual "Heroes vs. Hacks" charity hockey game last night to benefit
@Skateforthe22
. In just a few years,
@Skateforthe22
has grown from helping 18 vets into providing services to more than 375 vets throughout N.E., helping to combat the scourge of veteran suicide. Awesome.
It has been the honor of my life to represent the residents of Stoneham and Winchester as your State Representative. I ask for your support and your vote today to continue that work.
Polls are open from 7am until 8pm.
VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
Look, I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but as I've said before if you leave a Dad alone with a shaggy looking kid and a pair of clippers, things are going to happen.
#FinneganAintHappy
Fundamentally decent and an honorable public servant. Thank you
@SpeakerDeLeo
for your leadership and friendship. Never lost the fastball, and, as you can see below, could always spot the curveball too... Good luck in the next chapter.
What a thrill to welcome the State Champs into the State House today! Winchester High's Girls Varsity Soccer team visited me for a tour of the State House, pizza and recognition in the House Chamber during formal session.
Congrats to this stellar group!
#DistrictOfChampions
I was proud & saddened to participate in tonight's lantern ceremony & vigil. The community turnout was an impressive & profound first step forward for our community. Thanks to all participants & sponsors the Chinese American Network of Winchester & the Network for Social Justice.
And, just like that, the final member of our family got vaccinated today! Thanks to
@StonehamSuper
and the Stoneham Board of Health for running the vaccine clinic so efficiently.
#GetVaccinatedNow
My wife: "We should get the snowblower fixed."
Me: "We can sneak by this year with the shovels and pay for it next year."
Say hello to the bad guy!
#ThatsWhatTheKidsAreFor
Out campaigning for
@RepBrodeur
to be the next Mayor of
#Melrose
in between hockey games with the middle guy. Great responses on the doors, so we are celebrating at the legendary Billy's, as one does. Still unclear if we are in a Melrose or Wakefield institution, though.
Never look into the sun for a photo. Never have your Dad steal the show in an endorsement photo. 0 for 2. The message doesn't change, though. Vote
@EdMarkey
!
Congratulations to my friend and colleague
@RepDanCahill
on his maiden speech today in which he forcefully and successfully championed health care for our firefighters. Thank you for sponsoring this legislation.
Thanks for all of your thoughts and support. Quick, happy personal update here and a renewed plea to continue to stay home and practice social distancing.
I hope the individual who defaced this mural will come forward to explain the rationale behind doing this, but I am fairly certain it won't happen because that person is a coward who is most comfortable hiding under the cover of darkness.
What a disgrace you are to our community.
Awful news about the passing of Marvelous Marvin Hagler, the best fighter I have ever seen. Nobody tougher, nobody more disciplined and nobody more gracious.
The undisputed Champ. R.I.P.
While today may have looked different, the feeling was the same as the Governor swore me and my colleagues into the 192nd Great and General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. /1
@ProgressiveMass
Do you mean what am I doing when I'm not being pulled away to respond to passive-aggressive crap like this? I'm working directly w/residents who don't understand how to access services, helping get PPE's to front-line workers and trying to answer questions. Thanks for asking.
In his final note to his successor, President George H.W. Bush wrote the following to President Bill Clinton:
"Your success is now our country's success. I am rooting hard for you."
Good luck,
@PresElectBiden
. We are all rooting hard for your success.
We are restoring important funding to a number of agencies and programs this afternoon with overrides of the Governor's vetoes. Funding for our local Libraries,
@masscultural
, Senior Care, & Re-Entry Programs are among the first batch of overrides.

I was thrilled to sponsor the "Grab and Go" event at the Stoneham Senior Center yesterday, joining that great staff in providing some Irish cheer in the form of corned beef sandwiches, Irish bread and green facemasks for more than 200 seniors.
This morning
@RepBrodeur
and I joined the workers walking the line at
@StopandShop
in support of their labor strike.
Proud of my two older sons, who got their first experience supporting the rights of workers to collectively bargain for fair wages and benefits!
Thanks to everyone who spent a few beautiful hours today joining us for a cover-the-district series of visibilities for the campaign. One month to go!
#mapoli
Early voting is open! Dad, voting in his 18th Presidential election (it's his 4th time voting for his son as State Representative) dropped his mail-in vote directly at Town Hall, meeting two new citizens voting for the first time ever! Go vote!

I will be holding office hours tomorrow at Stoneham and Winchester public libraries. Come stop by to ask questions, engage in conversation or just say hello.
Take two minutes to listen to General Mark Milley, Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, explain in plain terms why education is essential in our society. (I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that General Milley was born and raised in Winchester.)
Gen. Mark Milley responds to Rep. Matt Gaetz on Extremism & Critical Race Theory: "I personally find it offensive that we are accusing the United States military, our general officers, our commissioned, non-commissioned officers of being 'woke' or something else."
I assumed the rostrum to run this morning's session in the House. The Assistant Sergeants at Arms had to wrestle the gavel away from me and I almost adjourned instead of recessed at 11am, but otherwise smooth sailing.
#mapoli
Thanks to my friends and colleagues for spending a gorgeous Autumn evening knocking on doors and speaking with voters in Stoneham tonight! Great responses for all, but
@loriehrlich
stole the show with her new puppy!

I was thrilled to welcome this group of State Champions into the State House today!
The Winchester Boys Varsity Soccer team visited for a tour of the State House, pizza and recognition in the House Chamber during formal session.
Congratulations on a great season!
Shabbat Shalom. Heading to the Interfaith prayer service at Temple Shir Tikvah in Winchester to pray for peace and come together as a community to reject hatred and intolerance in all of its forms.
Awe-inspiring tribute beginning to form for Trooper Bucci's final trip to Stoneham.
@MassStatePolice
, Stoneham Police and first responders from Stoneham and surrounding communities turning out to honor our state's loss.
An honor to join colleagues from MA & friends from around USA today to celebrate passage of the Inflation Reduction Act with
@POTUS
at the
@WhiteHouse
. Stunning afternoon and gorgeous setting befitting the recognition of this multifaceted law that will do so much good for so many
Took the first step in launching my campaign for re-election to this great job as State Rep for the fighting 31st Middlesex. With your help I intend to ask the people of
#Stoneham
and
#Winchester
to allow me to continue the work of moving our communities forward together.
Thanks to everyone who came out today to show support for our campaign to re-elect Mike!
Missed taking a picture of the big group in Stoneham but we appreciated all of the beeps and waves with these crews in Winchester!
#mapoli
Thrilled to introduce Shelley Blumsack, our re-election campaign manager! You can learn more about Shelley below & welcome her by emailing her at daycampaignmanager

I am thankful for a multitude of things today, but none more so than my family. I am fortunate to spend the morning with the Kavanaghs and the evening with the Days. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to you!
On the heels of the

Girls Soccer State Championship comes Stoneham Boys Football winning the Super Bowl title in an absolute thriller today. Congratulations,
@StonehamAD
and all of the champion Spartans!

Today I am wearing red for
#WearRedDay
to support women's heart health. Heart disease is the
#1
health threat for women & I join
@MAWomensCaucus
supporting
@GoRedForWomen
&
@AmericanHeartMA
in the fight against heart disease & stroke. Ogilthorpe bombed in to show his support too.
I participated and voted in the first remote formal session held by the Massachusetts House of Representatives in the Commonwealth's history today. It was surreal but it is important that we resume formal debate and voting.
Had 20 minutes between meetings & realized I hadn't eaten. So I then had 20 minutes of pure bliss on a gorgeous autumn day, wolfing down an Italian sub from
@dagostinosfoods
while sitting in the Sherman W. "Whip" Saltmarsh, Jr. Garden Terrace in
#Winchester
Ctr. Now back to work.
Thanks to our firearms laws, our local police who serve as our firearm licensing authorities and our shared values, Massachusetts is the safest state in the continental U.S. when it comes to gun safety.
Welcomed the outstanding
#Winchester
HS Chamber Singers in for a concert on the Grand Staircase today. They performed beautifully. Thanks to
@SecretaryOfMass
for sponsoring the cookies and State House tour! (Note where I am pointing and where the kids are looking during my talk)
It's still 2020, right?
Just making sure we pack as much crap into this year as possible. We can now check "Sunday morning bathroom fire" off the list.
Carry on...
