Our 2 bridge RNA papers are finally published in @Nature! Check out the incredible CryoEM structures, they're truly beautiful. A years-long rollercoaster ride, it's hard for me to imagine a more exciting project than this. Thank you to @ntperry13, @pdhsu, and our amazing team!
What if we could universally recombine, insert, delete, or invert any two pieces of DNA? In back-to-back @Nature papers, we report the discovery of bridge RNAs and 3 atomic structures of the first natural RNA-guided recombinase - a new mechanism for programmable genome design

@Soumees @BenSiranosian So if this actually goes through, what will it look like for scientists? Will buildings be shut down? Assistant profs fired?

@Soumees @BenSiranosian Ah yes! I’m dumb. That being said, are there public records of how IC is being spent? Does this just mean more stuff will be classified as a direct cost?

@Soumees @BenSiranosian Does the university show you how your money is spent? How much of your grant is paying for water and electricity?

@JasonSynaptic Can you elaborate on what this means? Predictions for how this will work going forward?

@NikoMcCarty @dwarkesh_sp When trying to account for the mobilome and pangenome of prokaryotes they’re arguably for more complex than eukaryotes. Much more diverse.
