If you're a Methodist who's thinking of starting a Podcast, just do it. We need all hands on deck. We can reclaim Methodism and show that it doesn't belong to gay pride flags and the raging Liberals. The war is won on a local level. By the laymen.
Orthobros are 100% predictable.
Protestant quotes Scripture:
Orthobro: "Who Gave You That Bible!?"
Protestant quotes church father that contradicts Orthobro.
Orthobro: "Go read this 500-page book or listen to this 3-hour Podcast on why it doesn't mean what it says."
Eastern Orthodoxy has no ecumenical council defining the canon of Scripture. Thus, for them to recognize Scripture apart from an ecumenical (infallible) council is to admit Protestantism: you don't need an infallible source to tell you what the Word of God is.
Methodism was a people before it was a Denomination. The
#UMCGC
apostasy doesn't stop the original mission that continues today in its people: Holy love for God (Scriptural Christianity).
Lots of people asked for this during the UMC General Conference. I knew Chris Ritter wouldn't let us down:
The link is to a list of all of the progressive victories at the conference.
Methodism isn’t dead. There are many faithful Methodist who don’t stand with the UMC’s apostasy, both in & outside of the UMC, who are committed to Scriptural Christianity. “The best of all, God is with us” - John Wesley.
The prodigal son didn't come home to Rome or Orthodoxy. He came home to his Father.
The apostles didn't baptize men into a denomination. They baptized men in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Protestantism is the truth.
@HwsEleutheroi
@kevinmyoung
Kevin, you’re continuing rebellion, despite warnings from God’s ppl, only deepen your pit in hell. There’s still time to repent.
The real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. One baptism for the
forgiveness of sins, has always been the Protestant position, & is what keeps us within the boundary of "One Holy Catholic Church." Let's leave behind Non-Denominationalism & anabaptism. Let's be Protestants.
Methodism seeks the primitive and catholic faith: thus, what we believe is not unique to Methodism but is the faith of the Church, and thus, for all Christians.
Many converted to a Denomination because they fell in love with the sense of belonging & vain aesthetics. I’m not impressed with Eastern Orthodoxy & such. I’m impressed with deep prayer lives. I’m impressed with men who preach & live with God’s anointing, & carry His burden.
Young Evangelicals are untouched & unaware that Methodism is a Biblical option for them. I can’t stress enough how important it is for Methodists to start reaching those looking for traditional high theology. Otherwise, they’ll keep thinking their only option is Calvinism.
Methodism & Anglicanism both deny the elements become the actual body/blood. But they affirm the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, which isn’t a trend. It was the OG belief of the church.
As eucharist is trending, do not be deceived: The eucharist does not become the actual body of Jesus, nor does the cup become His blood.
“Let no one deceive you with empty words…” —Ephesians 5:6
All the men converting to Eastern Orthodoxy are doing so because they fell in love with aesthetics and a sense of belonging to a community. Not because they fell in love with God. I'm not impressed by any new Orthdox catechumen.
Methodism was one of the biggest blessings God gave to America. And by His grace it will be again. But it’s a people. Not an institution. And it’ll be to His name & fame. Not ours.
Eastern Orthodoxy argues that because the fathers held to transubstantiation & baptismal regen & Prots don't, they're heterodox. Yet will still deny Roman Catholics as Christians who hold to both. What then makes one a Christian if even the RCC holds to both, yet is hetrodox?
“Large segments of modern Methodism have watered down Wesley's rich sacramental thought … Modern Methodism stands impoverished indeed, when it takes just one aspect of Wesley's doctrine of Baptism.” - Ole E. Borgen, John Wesley on the sacraments.
If you’re tired of Evangellyfish churches and want a deeper theology with a high view of God but don’t wanna go Reformed, and instead affirm God’s transformative grace for all, then Methodism is the way to go. Wesleyan theology is the best expression of Protestantism.
For Methodism to grow, it must engage on issues that affect everyone and offer the traditional Methodist solutions that are built on Scriptural Christianity and holiness of heart. Evangelism and Bible studies are how Methodism began, and this is how it'll continue.

Methodism isn’t dead!
“The best of all, God is with us” - John Wesley.
This book was recommended to me by Vic Reasoner on the study of Wesley’s sacramentology. It’s a 1985 copy. Book is out of print but I found it on
@AbeBooks
for about $20!
If your church claims infallibility & salvation is only within your church, then you permanently locked yourself out from any unity with those who disagree, and you made unity a material object rather than a spiritual truth in Christ.
That’s not the arguement you need to prove; the EO position is decretal infallibility. To interpret Matthew 16 as decretal infallibility is an unjustified interpretation with no exegetical proof.
It's important to know & get this right. I see both sides failing to see this; the Eastern Orthodox & Roman Catholics think Scripture alone denies other authorities, while many Protestants think Scripture alone negates other authorities. It's time to set the record straight.
If the EO admits that the early church fathers were predominantly Premil, while disagreeing, then they're admitting diversity of doctrine within the body of tradition, disproving one mainline tradition, and thus allowing for Protestantism.
If you’re paying attention, the LGBT parades are full blown lewd and Satanic. They’re openly pro-Satan, anti-Jesus. The enemy is moving towards the global worship of Satan and his coming anti-christ. Many churches are sleeping. Remain faithful and get ready to fight (Eph 5:14).
For any church denomination to claim "they're the one true church," is to identify that institution as the body of Christ and means that those not in that denomination are not Christians.
The modern EO & RCC can deny this logic, but logic it is.
@BenZeisloft
The thing I disagree with is the “must.” 1 Tim 2 says we “must” pray for our leaders salvation so that we can live quiet & godly lives. The Bible never placed an “ought” on Christians to enter politics. See also 1 Cor 7:17-24.
@ZachWLambert
Maybe you should have an influx of men breaking into your house, bringing drugs and children to traffick, raping women, and then you’d understand.
6-months after our marriage, my wife & I skipped the “Let’s travel for 2-years, blow thousands of dollars, then adopt a dog & act like it’s our child,” and were blessed by God with a beautiful baby that continues to bring immense love & joy. This is the way, newly weds.
@jonahmsaller
Do you reconcile this with the 39-articles as pointing out that it specifically states the "Romish doctrine" of Purgatory, and therefore allows for a non-Romish doctrine?
Dating in the Modern church sucks because churches are sold out. It’s a symptom of weakness. If the pastor is weak, the men are weak, and if the men are weak, there are no good men to date, and therefore the dating sucks.
This guy isn’t a Methodist. He’s a racist. Grouping conservatism into skin color. He’d never group conservative values into “Black males,” yet he’d group it into “White males.” This is Woke racism 101.
The so-called “next Methodism” will not be engineered by a (primarily White male) conservative group of terminally degreed theologians in an academic hall.
The current and next Methodism is springing up where the first Methodism did... in the fields, among the people.
(1)
Methodist should take zero interest in “reclaiming Methodism,” or the “next Methodism.” This isn’t a rebrand.
This is about classical Wesleyan doctrine: The Pursuit of Scriptural Christianity.
“There’s no salvation outside the church.” Salvation doesn’t belong to the church. It’s the righteousness of Christ. Not the righteousness of the believers that God justifies upon. You trust otherwise, you’re not a Christian. Including the Eastern Orthodox bros.
One isn’t wrong to question if Methodism should have separated from the Church of England. Especially considering that Charles & John were opposed to it.
John Wesley believed all infants in baptism were regenerated: “Our church supposes that all who are baptized in their infancy are at the same time born again.” - Wesley sermon, “The New Birth.”
LGBT people aren’t a special group of sinners. They don’t get special treatment and have different rules when it comes to evangelizing them. They’re sinners who need to repent and believe in Christ. They have the same and only hope that all men have: Christ or hell.
You can access many of these commentaries online for free. Take avantage of them. They are fantastic. The dead theologians are better than contemporary ones.
I just declined Jay to do a spontaneous debate on why Premil is Biblical & offered to debate another time because I have prior commitments, & his response is, "Let me make fun of him. How dare he not debate me with my 125k followers!!" This is why I’m Protestant…
That’s an interpretation of Scripture. How do you know your interpretation of Scripture that the church is infallible is correct? I’m asking you for your epistemic justification.
Salvation, in the EO scheme, is about becoming a god. In the Holy Scriptures, salvation is about forgiveness and redemption through Jesus by faith (Romans 3).
There are many authors with books on the history of Methodism, but too few Methodists dealing with current issues. If we can start being relevant, we can start reaching and growing.
@americancaedmon
I mean, as in, John Wesley himself, who was an Anglican. His theology is closer to the Anglican church. Such as, Baptismal Regeneration, the perpetual Virginity of Mary. Whereof, American Methodism departed (slightly) from this.
It’s ironic that the contemporary church who wants to discount church tradition will celebrate Christmas & Easter. Those holidays come from church tradition.
If salvation by faith is still works, as the Calvinist argues, then Paul’s argument that salvation isn’t by works but by faith makes absolutely no sense.
Here's something your church may not tell you: If you're a believer, your children are holy (1 Cor 7:14). This doesn't need commentary. God says it. This is simply the case. Your children are holy.
How heretical does this sound to you?
“If someone asks 'How can I become god?' the answer is very simple: go to church, receive the sacraments regularly, pray to God 'in spirit and in truth, read the Gospels, follow the commandments.” -Timothy Ware, “The Orthodox Church.”
Small things families can do to help restore church in America: Go to church with your family. Wear Sunday clothes. Don't take your kids to children's church. This demonstrates that church is sacred worship to God and your household worships Him together.
No, we’re not. Islam is Satanism.
They reject Jesus as God. Our God is Jesus. Isalm isn’t.
“And if Satan is casting out Satan, he has become divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand?” (Matthew 12:26).
I'm amazed that all that's required to disprove the Orthodox church is to show the Biblical case for Premil. This is extremely easy to do. The Orthodox claim to be the true church is a joke.
Additionally, Premil IS the historic/ earliest form of millennialism.
#checkmate
Election is unto salvation. 2 Thess 2:13 is clear. The golden chain of Romans 8:28-30 is clear. Wesley-Arminianism doesn’t deny this. The view that denies this is a recent invention & not to be confused as the classical view. Don’t confuse Provisionism with Arminianism.
