Still with Zero students even when I have @NSERC_CRSNG grants to fund these students. No way I will remain silent. If no one will listen I am going for news media to spread their lies. Because at the end not even the sole supervised PhD student was able to join!.
(10/372) On Discrimination in AI Community in Canada. I was prevented from admitting PhD students as sole supervisor and I was not provided with any support from other faculty in my department to cosupervise em. Is this the equity for ECRs? Preventing me from starting my lab!

@jenheemstra It is unfortunate though that people usually question efforts from underrepresented minority. I feel the need to elaborate on what i did in the work even when I am the first author. Then I need to do extra effort to prove its credibility. Then fight backbiting. Thats Tiring!.

How many Africans are Muslims @DeepIndaba? give me the voice to talk about my own experience as a Muslim African in the field with good enough of contribs in top CV/ML venues yet I am facing lots of racism. If DLI is supporting Africans you should support Muslim Africans too.

I am really happy that the people pushed for an apology from one of the researchers for being racist in a Keynote in @NeurIPSConf. I would like to see the same anger happening for racism against others too. I am now unemployed thanks to racism. I am wondering why the silence?.

I am really excited to share this as we have been working on an AI grassroots community for Computer Vision for & by Africans. We call it Ro'ya which is an Arabic word for vision, to indicate the focus of our community on CV datasets, methods and applications that impact Africa.

(4/372) Again on irresponsible reviewing. When we receive from TPAMI a review that clearly violates the guidelines by claiming that we are not comparing to certain works when we do. Did we receive an apology! Did they accept our appeal! No #TPAMI is the best journal in CV.

@jenheemstra Its almost impossible to find satisfaction even when u do huge effort on it. Cause u almost always are questioned. The fighting back takes the satisfaction away. Its not even giving real feedback to work on to improve cause its not the goal to help u improve to begin with :D !.

@hager_rady @icmlconf @cvpr2019 @iclr2019 A suggestion that others have made before. If people are not able to go to a conference because of Visa issues. If it is possible to accommodate that they present the same work but in another conference/consequent workshop that they're able to attend that would be great.

@hager_rady @icmlconf @cvpr2019 @iclr2019 Yeap totally agree. I had the same issue with ICLR this year I was supposed to be presenting in LLD workshop there. But I wasn't able to go. Although it would have benefited me a lot to network with the people exactly in what I am interested in :(.

(7/372) On continued discrimination and #Islamophobia in Canada. One of the worst things is how University staff harass and mistreat faculty from under-represented groups. My friend once told me you can not really take your rights in Canada as a muslim, I believe she's right.

@DeepIndaba @Uni_Rwanda @DeepIndaba please help me spread the word about religious racism that is actively ongoing against me. I supported DLI in various ways and I am hoping you do the same. Why not? I have contributed to DLI in every single way. Why not support me in the time when I am in need?.

This is the firt tweet I read from anyony in the AI community who is not Arab or muslim to back palestinians and whats happening there. Thank you!.
The dissociation I'm feeling on Twitter is a painful reminder of the US-centrism of academic communities focused on 'justice' & 'ethics'. 100s killed in Palestine, 100s forcibly disappeared in Colombia. And the conversation here continues as if nothing was happening.
