I was 45 years old before I ever had a love interest on stage. I’ll be 46 this year. I didn’t even go to drama school. This organisation of bodies in entertainment goes deeper than school.
When theatre educators automatically cast the fat students as the “old ladies” or the broad comedic relief, they are subliminally being told that they’re not believable as objects of love & desire & they will often carry that belief with them throughout their careers & lives.
