Serwaa Amihere is not the one heading to court. It’s a criminal offence which is being prosecuted by the state. Not a civil suit which would have been from Serwaa Amihere. The punishment for a criminal offence may include jail term or a fine unlike a civil suit.

This doesn’t make sense. There’s a Latin phrase which says “nemo dat quod non habet” meaning you cannot give what you don’t have. How are you able to sell a property you’re renting and the buyers did no due diligence? No lawyers in involved?. There’s definitely more to this.

We definitely should amend our criminal laws in Ghana to include cleaning rivers, gutters, sweeping etc (community service) as punishment. We really should stop wasting taxpayers money on sending people to jail for “petty” crimes such as stealing GHS50.
