What will be the impact of Trump’s #USAID defunding on the 1 million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh? Today, I met a 2-year-old girl who was having convulsions due to a high fever. She was treated at a clinic that, until recently, was fully funded by the US. That funding stopped a few months ago, and the clinic now only handles emergency cases. If it shuts down—an increasingly likely outcome—and the girl’s convulsions continue, she could die. This is my first visit to the camps in six years, and in that time, donations have steadily declined. The cut to USAID may be the tipping point. My report for NPR is coming soon #bangladesh #rohingya #refugees #trump #Rohingyacrisis #USAID #executiveorders

Let’s meet Mumtaz Begum, a resilient woman who lost her three children, husband, mother and sisters and her nephews. She had to leave 13 family members in the Tulatuli massacre without any graveyard prayer. She was brutally assaulted by the military junta and she and her daughter were burned alive inside their home. Alhamdullillah both of them escaped the fire and today she and her daughter is alive with us today. So, we are able to hear her story and the story of Tulatuli people. What she needs is your prayers and support. So she can leave happily inside the camp and it is very hard to live in this situation with the traumas and nightmares she encountered. #Rohingya #refugeecrisis #refugeestories #documentary #photojournalism #dailylife #rohingyarefugees #prayer #rohingyatographer #documentaryphotography #livessupport

Zomir Husan, a resident of Tulatuli village, lost fifteen family members in the 2017 massacre that was carried out by military junta. Currently residing in the world’s largest Rohingya refugee camp, he expresses profound despair and lacks the expectation of improved living conditions within the camp. Despite the ongoing struggle for justice and rights for the Rohingya minority, his situation remains dire. #rohingya #refugees #documentary #genocide #victims #justice #rohingyatographer #CampLives #refugeestories #RohingyaCrisis #rohingyarefugees #Myanmar #CampLives

Meet Lailah Begum ! Lailah’s smile is truly captivating and resplendent. Despite the arduous challenges she has faced as a Rohingya refugee, she embodies unwavering strength and resilience in her daily life. As a widow living apart from her children and finding solace in her daughter’s shelter, she derives joy from the simple pleasures of life and remains a source of inspiration for the community. Through her determination, she supports herself by collecting and selling spinach, exchanging it for modest amounts of money or rice. Let us honor Lailah’s courage and emulate her compassionate spirit by spreading kindness wherever we go. #Inspiration #Resilience #CommunityLove #LailahKatu #Rohingya #refugeestories #documentary #documentaryphotography #portraitphotography #portrait #rohingyatographer #CampLives #RohingyaCrisis #rohingyarefugees #photojournalism

The water crisis in Rohingya refugee camp is increasing a lot day by day because refugees are not getting enough water to use it for daily lives. Refugees have to await a long time in the queue to get the water. The pitchers have to be put systematically in the queue since morning to get the water. The hilly areas that are very high is a severe shortage for the refugees to get enough water. Even elderly people and women and young children face a lot of challenges to carry the water. #watercrisis #rohingyacamp #Refugeelives #refugeestories #documentaryphotography #shortvlog #videoshow #documentary #dailyreels

Feran Katu, a 63-year-old widow residing alone in a small shelter within the Balukhali refugee camp, faces significant challenges in her daily life. Without children or a husband, she has endured widowhood for an extended period, struggling to survive independently in the world’s largest refugee camp. Katu primarily relies on humanitarian assistance to meet her basic needs. Due to the absence of income sources, she is unable to generate sufficient funds to cover her daily expenses. Her advanced age has left her vulnerable to various age-related illnesses, necessitating substantial monthly healthcare costs. Consequently, she resorts to selling her rations to finance her medical expenses. In her old age, Katu ventures into various parts of the camps, gathering spinach from diverse plants and bundling them in her shelter to earn a modest income. She sells these spinach bundles door-to-door, exchanging small amounts daily to supplement her income. #documentary #streetphotography #Rohingya #refugeecrisis #RohingyaCrisis #photojournalist #photojournalism #documentaryphotography #rohingyatographer #refugeestories #dailystory #income #source #dailylifestory #refugees
