It took five days, but the Pallid Harrier was back on the bridge at Warham Greens (part of the @HolkhamEstate NNR) last night, to the delight of another twenty visiting birders (digi-scoped photo taken from the public viewpoint). Continues to roost much further away in saltmarsh.

@GlenOrioleglen The Harrier in your photo is a juvenile Hen Harrier (note the five-fingered wing tip). She has very similar plumage to the ad female Pallid, though a much more obvious pale collar, and bulkier jizz and has caused some confusion for visitors particularly in the afternoon light.

@ChrisGPackham @NFUtweets Same on most farms in North Norfolk (critical area for tired and hungry arriving winter thrushes, etc). The hedges on my local farm have been cropped like that for the second time this year (spring and autumn). Trying to work out why farmland birds are declining so fast 🙄
