A beautiful adult male Ring Ouzel from this morning. The abberant white feathers in the head is caused by some kind of melanin deficiency in the bird. #birdmigration #birdringing #birdbanding #autumnmigration #ottenby #birds

@PaulDufour80 @Bucktonbirder Not really, the first YBW's turned up in mid-September as expected.

@Bucktonbirder We average about 1-2 per autumn, so four of them is a good (but not unprecedented) total. They were a bit early, about a week before median date. Let's hope for more.

Results from a recent DNA-analysis of some odd Lesser Whitethroats from the last years was just returned. The star bird - a dark and heavy billed C. c. althaea - represents the third record for Europe! #ottenby #birdringing #birdbanding #birdmigration

It's been a nice wader summer here at Ottenby, and >5000 have been ringed. Most adult birds have passed by now, and the juveniles are taking over - like this beautiful Broad-billed Sandpiper. #birdmigration #birdringing #birdbanding #autumnmigration #ottenby

Ottenby's fourth ringed Pectoral Sandpiper walked into one of our traps during the evening. #birdmigration #birdringing #birdbanding #autumnmigration #ottenby

A barely fleged, beautiful and rather aberrant Icterine Warbler (Hippolais icterina). Such odd yellow plumage is usually caused by a melanin deficiency in the bird. #birdringing #birdbanding

April 1, 1980, still the only ringed Steller's Eider here at Ottenby. The Baltic Sea used to hold a wintering population of this arctic duck, but since 2000 we have seen a sharp decline, probably caused by a shift in wintering grounds due to warmer climate. Photo @StaffanBensch

RT @frank_osterberg: A fine example of a 5M GGS at Ottenby this morning. Released with fingers intact (kinda)

Yet another cool #motus registration from our Yellow-browed Warblers! Trapped and tagged at #Ottenby on Sep 14 and then recorded on four different receivers around the German bight September 26-28, before disappearing into the Dutch inland. #birdmigration #animaltracking
