Working on the
@Dinotracker
videos with the models
@ILMVFX
created for the movie has been like a dream come true. We want to do a more extensive making of about it in a future, but meanwhile here is a sneak peak from the first video I did for the campaign
(Thread! 👇)
Animating the original JP3 Velociraptor model for Dinotracker was really exciting. ILM sent a basic model and I had to model all the details, texture and the animate both male and female. Here is a walk cycle I did while working on the model

This is the Labocania aguillonae, a new tyrannosaurid described in Mexico. This is a short animation I made to present it, using the awesome 3D model created by
@RaulRamosArt
Recently, I found this small test that I made a few years ago by adding the T. Rex to this scene from Jurassic World. Since I updated the model recently, I rendered it again with the latest version
When I received the Rexy model from
@ILMVFX
I did this animation to test the rigging and shading, I thought it was a good nod to the "The Making of Jurassic Park" documentary that made me want to learn vfx when I was a child. I hope you enjoy it!
This is one of the first tests I did for Dinotracker with a video I shot in Peru in 2018. I had the Triceratops walk cycle ready at that time so I used it to check the tracking of the shot (in the end it featured a Carnotaurus chasing a Llama 🦙)
This was a test I did using the setup from the Velociraptor's walk cycle I posted a few weeks ago, so the animation from Dinotracker's video could be better appreciated.
What if we had a Five Nights at Freddy´s game set in Jurassic Park? This is how it could look just in case Universal is interested... Happy Halloween!! 🎃
This is a test I did while working on the juvenile Allosaurus attack video for Dinotracker. Allosaurus was not the first choice so I had to remake the video, but it worked nicely in the end. It was great to see all the reactions it had 👻😄
This is one of the many tests I did while working on the video of Rexy fighting an Apatosaurus for Dinotracker. It was great to work with this amazing model created by
@ILMVFX
For Dinotracker I wanted to do a video of a dino chasing a modern animal, and a Carnotaurus chasing a Llama using a video I shot in Peru sounded really funny. Fortunately
@colintrevorrow
liked the idea 😁 Here's a render test I did while rigging the model provided by
@ILMVFX
This is a quick test I did last year with the Iguanodon model from ILM for an idea I had for a possible Dinotracker video. I liked the idea of an Iguanodon on a safari. However, I couldn't explore it further because I had other videos to finish, and there wasn't enough time 🥲
This is one of the Dinotracker videos I enjoyed the most. Based on the idea of having a Compy stealing a hiker's camera, I had to plan and shoot the different elements needed and add the VFX. If you want to know more about the process, just continue reading this thread 👇
Eight years ago I did this fan trailer that allowed me to create official content for the franchise and it was great to see the official trailer for the last movie using the same quote by John Hammond. Can't wait to see what's to come

I don't think I had shown any behind the scenes stuff from the Baryonyx video for the Dinotracker website, so here’s a render test I did while I was working on the final video
This is a test of an extended version of the Dinotracker video that I couldn't complete due to time constraints. A pretty cool video with the Nasutoceratops, but I couldn't finish the integration as I wanted, so we only included the part with the Gallimimus
Go check the second part of the behind the scenes from our

viral marketing campaign (and some interesting stuff about the Dilophosaurus 🤠)

This is a render test that I did while working on the animation of the T. Rex against the Apatosaurus for the Dinotracker website. It was fun to be able to animate the Apatosaurus using its tail as a whip for defense, something we couldn't see in the movies 🦕🦖
This is a render test of a Nasutoceratops animation I made for DinoTracker, but we ultimately didn't use it because there wasn't enough time to refine the animation and the integration of the dinosaur into the video
One thing I would like about the design of the new dinosaurs in Jurassic World: Rebirth, especially the carnivores, is for the designers to use more references than just crocodiles when designing them. I think we've had enough of that in the last few movies 😅
I always enjoyed watching the making of Jurassic Park documentary and last year I had a lot of fun recreating the first test
@ILMVFX
did with the T. Rex 🦖
I loved everything about the Jurassic Park Survival trailer, including the Rex (I think they used the one from Fallen Kingdom, not Dominion), but I couldn't resist making a quick edit of the head with my own version of the digital Rex from Jurassic Park
Recently, I found this Spinosaurus that I've had since I was a child. It's supposed to be from around '93, though I'm not sure. It's surprising how our perception of Spinosaurus has changed since then (and who knows what else might change...)
The JP3 raptor model we were sent from ILMs archives for Dinotracker was only 6mb in size! It was also “full of holes”, as Mr. DNA would say. So
@mbejaranoweb
had to work his magic to refurbish this old asset and bring these beloved dinosaurs back from extinction.

It's been 10 years since I released this fan trailer for Jurassic World. I was fortunate that Colin Trevorrow saw it and wanted me to create the corporate video for MasraniGlobal, which led me to meet Jack, Tim, and the rest of the ChaosTheorem team and work on FK and Dominion 🤠
