I just took the pledge with grassroots Teamsters across America to defeat Donald Trump by electing Kamala Harris this November. Brothers and sisters, please join me!
Really pathetic to receive absolutely zero guidance from
@UPS
about how to work safely today despite air quality levels in NYC being among the worst in the world.
A bodega gave me a free mask before a multi-billion dollar corporation did. Feels a lot like the pandemic again.
A victory for UPS Teamsters isn’t just a victory for 340k people.
It’s a victory for the family of every UPS Teamster.
It’s a victory for workers across the entire logistics industry because it will raise industry standards.
It’s a victory for the entire working class.
So many 22.4 coworkers called me almost in disbelief after hearing this news. A couple even said they finally understood why I’ve dedicated so much time to the union in the past few years.
It’s not over yet, but we’re growing stronger the closer we get to the finish line 💪💯
BREAKING: TEAMSTERS END 22.4, DEMOLISHING TWO-TIER SYSTEM AT UPS💥
During a hard-fought day at the bargaining table, the
#Teamsters
reached tentative agreement with
@UPS
on three major economic issues...

#HotUnionSummer
🧵UPS sending supervisors to scab on the nurses strike in violation of their collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters demonstrates how tilted labor law is towards employers in this country.🧵
While
@UPS
was requiring workers to sign forms to receive masks, we were handing out kn95s at the gates for free.
Big thanks to
@nycDSA
for getting us the masks. The rapid response was incredible. We will be safer today thanks to them.
Still in awe that
@UAW
saw the blind spots for workers in Biden’s IRA, withheld their endorsement, launched a historic strike, successfully pressured Biden to join the picket line and now won a union contract for GM battery workers.
Ford and Stellantis: you’re up next.
“Hey kid, you think this company gives a rats ass about you? To them you’re just a number. Stick with the union. You’ll thank me later. Now get outta here, I was enjoying my alone time.”
“FOX13 learned Rufus worked in the salvage department where he loaded and unloaded products from trailers.”
As a UPS worker, this is a hauntingly familiar story.
It’s not enough to win AC in private union contracts. We need universal heat-safety protections for all workers.
Tony Rufus died on the job Friday at a Kroger Distribution Center in Memphis.
Coworkers say he died in the produce section, trying to cool down in the overheated building.
Now his union, Teamsters 667, is demanding more heat protection for all workers.
Teamsters have delivered life saving medical supplies to hospitals for years, including Covid vaccines.
Tomorrow we have the opportunity to honor the picket lines of striking nurses and support their fight for safer staffing for patients.
Solidarity will save lives.
Workers in logistics, auto, entertainment are fighting back.
But it’s not just an issue of bad CEOs.
The fundamental logic of capitalism drives corporations to cheapen the cost of labor to compete with other firms.
We need an alternative that puts people over profits.
Correction: UPS drivers who earn $95,000 a year are preparing to strike, and it could inspire virtually every American worker to fight for better pay and better working conditions.
Here’s an article
@elliotrlewis
and I wrote for
@labornotes
last summer detailing some of the organizing that contributed to today’s victory at the bargaining table. We won AC!!
At
@labornotes
I had the privilege of speaking with a brother named Deven who works as a maintenance of way worker on the railroad. I had many questions about the 2022 contract fight and organizing under the RLA. But above all, I had one question: how’s the job?
While the state will swiftly punish someone breaking the law to support a strike, the state is unwilling to significantly punish corporations for violating labor agreements or the law because both the Democratic and Republican parties are captured by the capitalist class…
Currently delivering several air conditioning units weighing 60+ pounds each, without air conditioning in my truck 🥵
Everyday Americans are seeing the sacrifices that
@Teamsters
make every day to keep this country running through pandemic and warming climate.
UPS should avert the strike by respecting
@Teamsters
fair demands.
Capitalism causes its own crises. It constantly seeks to cheapen the cost of labor and push workers to the brink of exhaustion and even death in order to maximize productivity.
We’re not gonna take it anymore.
A 10-day UPS strike would cost the economy more than $7 billion and be the costliest work stoppage in at least a century, according to a new study by Anderson Economic Group, which researches labor disruptions.
Heartbroken but not surprised that we lost another brother to heat exhaustion.
We fought and won AC for future UPS drivers, but it’s too late for Begley and his family.
Now we face a interim period of years before the whole UPS fleet has AC. 🧵
Thinking about all the delivery workers in NYC today. From extreme heat to hazardous air quality and now flash flooding, delivery workers are on the front lines.
The reality is that the check won’t be paid for months if not years, by which time the strike will be over, and the nurses will have come to an agreement based on however much leverage they had at the time of negotiations.

First line of defense for the members ⚔️
We’re gonna get what we deserve in this next contract 😤💯
If I had a dollar for the number of times I’ve heard UPS and Amazon workers say “let’s give the new CEO/manager a chance” just to get let down again, and ultimately choose to stick with the union, I’d have enough money to pay the Rev to make a “Vote Yes” video.
Mercedes workers in Alabama start to vote on joining the
@UAW
today.
As part of their union-busting campaign, Mercedes collaborated with Reverend Matthew Wilson on a deeply cynical and disturbing video.
While I believe we should consider air conditioning a big victory at the bargaining table, we should never forget that Teamsters had to die before this became a national issue.
As a union member I understand the importance of having a functional grievance process. As a DSA member I find it absurd that some on the NPC support spending $360K on a grievance officer (3x market rate) instead of putting more resources towards labor and electoral organizing.
We must invest more in organizing than consultants, which is why B&R NPC members are voting against a new and extremely costly contract with our NHGO. They explain their decision and the need for more transparency around staff salaries.
Is it really the 2017 strike? or the far-right, anti-worker Supreme Court that will *attempt* to slam shut the new era of worker activism?
This isn’t a self-inflicted wound, it’s a far-right attack on workers’ right to strike!!
Fired up at the 2nd

We’re gonna kick ass in 2023 💯
Thanks to
