There's something sublime about Ralph McQuarrie's concept art. Long, lean lines. Big simple shapes subdividing into intricate details. You can tell he was formerly an aviation designer. No film has captured it but when they get close, you get classics like the Battle of Hoth
The Battle of Hoth encapsulates everything I admire about military sci-fi/fantasy. The layered presentations and dramatic relevance of virtually everything depicted - keeps this a stark example of 'how it's done'.
