I **hate** reviewing manuscripts and having to flip to the end for figures. It breaks the flow of reading, and is really annoying. Can all journals adopt the 'submit your way' format for the first submission?
I got to tell a very personal story about how I got interested in
#pain
research. It was a phenomenal opportunity to share my journey from a chronic pain patient to a pain researcher.
Thank you so much,
@storycollider
, for letting me share!
This is going to improve the lives of hundreds of millions of people. 209M people got Malaria and 200K died from it in 2019.
This should be the cover story of the day.
This is HUGE!
The first malaria vaccine to show more than 75% efficacy, a World Health Organization specified goal, has been developed by scientists at the University of Oxford

I’m really grateful to

In the last round of CIHR, I budgeted $65,000 for a PDF. One of the reviewers said that I shouldn’t pay more than $42,000.
Not sure they understand how expensive Toronto is…

I support my trainees who are walking out, and I've told them.
We top up our trainees where we can, but the Government should be setting a higher standard for those who do the important work in our labs.
Fund grad students what they are worth, and give them a living wage!
I'm very grateful to

I am a

. I am now *more* grateful than ever to all patients with pain who participate in our studies. Thank you.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the “crisis of insufficient reviewers.” I honestly think we have too many journals and the pressure to publish (for grants, graduation, promotion) is churning out a lot of bad work.
I think it’s time for a rethink.
@RiversRossV
I wouldn’t even consider positions in the US. Healthcare is an insane obstacle. Parental leave is a nightmare. And job safety for immigrants is non-existent.
This is the most bittersweet paper publication I've experienced. I am so proud of
@liz_ayoub

We learned that our colleague & friend Liat Honigman passed away today from cancer.

Our new paper is out ahead of print. It’s on the role of the medial temporal lobe (MTL) in pain. I’m so proud of my trainee

I don’t talk too much about my lived experience with pain. And I think that was part of my way of moving through life and looking forward.
At the Pain & Suffering meeting in Berlin,
