@vonGravel It's an interesting thing to read up on--this is non-fugitive extradition, which has been treated differently under the Extradition Clause, and which is addressed in NY's shield law. Will definitely end up in federal court

@kushibo @beck421469 @Backstorymom1 If this really were Los Angeles, that would be a whole other order of magnitude. 😂

The grand jury in Baton Rouge, L.A., indicted her on felony charges--a test test of NY's shield law, which addresses everything from extradition to investigations. Lots of legal questions here, about everything from which state's law applies to the Full Faith and Credit Clause.
Another major cross-border conflict about abortion on the way: a grand jury in LA just indicted NY doctor Margaret Carpenter for violating state law by mailing pills into the state:

Fascinating--and still hard to know what Trump will do. Would this kind of investigation be slow-walking--essentially to get abortion opponents off his back--or the prelude to an argument that telehealth mifepristone is unsafe, or that mifepristone should be off the market?
RFK Jr. says he would direct the NIH and FDA to review the safety of mifepristone, a drug that's been used during medical abortions for decades: "Trump has made it clear to me that...he is not taking a position yet on mifepristone...[but] he wants me to look at safety issues."

@tkdylan I just think it's unpredictable and may depend on who fills out more junior positions in DOJ/HHS. The book is out in April! I will be tweeting about galleys today or tomorrow.

There will be major pressure on the Trump Administration to make Comstock an abortion ban--and rebrand it a "national abortion trafficking law." Trump has shown signs of catering to movement demands so far. Now, we'll see how far he goes...
NEW: 30 major anti-abortion leaders on Wednesday wrote to the DOJ formally asking them to enforce the Comstock Act banning the mailing of abortion pills This appears to be the first step towards a threat legal scholars have been warning about

Thanks to @pambelluck and @emilybazelon for the chance to talk about this study, which could dramatically change conflicts around contraception--and about what abortion means in the first place.
NEW: A medication abortion study explores a possible substitute for mifepristone. Story w/@EmilyBazelon

Hard to predict how far Trump will go in delivering for abortion opponents. We might get a sense from his decision to pardon protestors convicted under the federal FACE Act. Still, the real question is what happens to mifepristone and the Comstock Act.
NEW: Trump & Vance will address the March for Life tomorrow (the former by video, the latter in person). Their appearance comes amid frustration in the anti-abortion movement that none of Trump's zillion executive orders so far have addressed the issue.
