Todays setup. 2 pilots , paramedic & doctor on shift 7-7. Flying 270km/hr , 2 hr endurance. 6 medical bags , ventilator , blood , monitor , suction , ultrasound and much more.

My first week as remote GP:
Monday - first patient - headache , gcs 8 , intubated , treated as meningitis , transfer (4hrs) to tertiary hospital.
Tuesday - fly 1 hr to primary healthcare remote clinic. 10 patients. Massive health needs.
Hard to beat for variety.
Also 38c (winter)

1. The gold standard model is doctor-paramedic. The primary cost is the platform. Adding a physician is relatively minor in comparison

Excellent piece Emily. Staff retention so much easier than recruitment. Staff have bad experiences and they leave making it worse for those remaining and the cycle ’s about making people look forward to going to work again..thanks from primary care.

3. The helicopter is a method to transport the crew. It should be rarely used as a patient transport vehicle as we have limited primary pads. The focus should move away from being on speed to hospital and focus on speed to treatment ( ie. Skilled personnel)
