This drill / swing feel produced over 130mph club speed with a 6iron. I try to create speed through mechanics here, NOT by hammering hit.
Also got close to breaking 300% vertical force
Check out this new YouTube video with
@RickShielsPGA
- I take him through a speed session. He started off at 109mph. Wanna know where he ended up?

To make speed gains permanent and take them to the course, you gotta push through a period of ball flights you‘ve never seen before. Don‘t let them scare you.
My YouTube channel is now flying with weekly uploads!
First two are already up, go check em out for distance insights and to support me. 🙏
Merry Christmas🎄
Some people yet haven’t figured Long Drive has gotten over the times of just whacking the golf ball as hard as possible.
We keep learning more and more about the biomechanics of the golf swing and gear being used to max it out AND make it applicable to golf.
A New Year same old comments. Reaching new athletic heights and pushing the boundaries of what is humanly possible is lauded in nearly all other discipline. Unless it’s long drive. I’ll keep posting plenty more though
@padraig_h
is incredible to watch.
I love how this whole speed & distance thing turned from "whacking golf balls hard" into a legit & smart process for a lot of golfers on an elite level.
NEW PODCAST with
@martinborgmeier
We talk:
- Hitting it 400 yards
- The amazing sport of LONG DRIVE
- Becoming friends with
@b_dechambeau
- How you can hit it longer
MUCH MORE

I would think you lose a bit of flexibility when you stop moving rotationally and look more like Phil Heath. The problem is too many people believe they turn into Phil Heath overnight once they touch a weight.
@Fit_For_Golf
1) is non-negotiable and doomed by a lot of golfers. Seeing barbaric speed sessions makes them cringe.
They should keep in mind it’s a technique to push the CNS to move faster (+ speed reserve), not a practice method to bring this exact intent to the golf course.
@martinborgmeier
Fellow golfers: Leave this stuff for the under 30 category. Want better scores? Short game short game short game. Your welcome.
#captainobvious
The courage it takes to enter uncharted territory on this elite level is unprecedented. Whoever believes this doesn’t require skill hasn‘t studied this topic enough.
@treeputtgene
@martinborgmeier
Distance is EXTREMELY important and is low hanging fruit for MANY golfers. Training to get more speed is time very well spent.
@LeeCoxGolfCoach
That negativity is coming from people who either don’t understand or do not want to understand what’s going on and how it can be applied to golf
This week was unreal for ball speed records in the
@WorldLongDrive
community.
I explained the whole speed push things (going 230+), the history of it and WHY we actually do it here:
Long Drive principles in full effect.
The question is not which LD elements create speed for golf, the question is to what degree they are being applied.

@SashoMacKenzie
@TheStackSystem
my baseline test Jan 1st (full intent, which for me is keeping the left foot on the ground, resulting in around 20cm shorter hand path than max intent)
Just a couple BIG hitters 🚀 with strong beard games 🧔♂️🧔🏻♂️
Great day filming with LONG DRIVE CHAMP
@martinborgmeier
! He teaches me how to add 10mph to my swing speed PLUS we get to see him hit 400+ yards drives!
(video coming soon)
Isn’t it funny how any shaft softer than "XX" was barely on the spectrum a couple years ago.
Now the community barely swings anything stiffer. (~265 in cpm terms)
#efficiency
I strongly believe this is how you grow the game of LD (and eventually golf).
No reason to be secretive about knowledge (that took years to gather).
Regecy is different, but have a look yourself:
A couple weeks ago Rory blamed speed training and people discussed his 'irreversible' swing deficits.
Did I mention Bryson went home after R2 as he thought he missed the cut, then flew back and came T9 and cashed ~$250k?
Tremendous athletes. What a sport.
What exactly happens at impact over 200mph ball speed?
Not every ball is perfect and so isn‘t every strike (which makes the equation even more complex)
In my opinion this is a topic worth millions of hours of research.
And then there‘s ballistics…
▪️ Highest Club Head Speed - 154 mph 😤
▪️ Highest Ball Speed - 226 mph 💣
▪️ Longest Ball - 436 Yards 🚀
Those are some EPIC numbers in competition. 🤯
We're excited to welcome
@martinborgmeier
and his beard to the team! 🙌

It may seem babaric to some of you and far off from golf but this is one important training method to increase maximum speed as well as average speed. (speed reserve)
We just released the first video of REGECY. You really wanna watch this: a mixture of education, inspiration and entertainment. Starring Bryson, Hogan and myself.
The season is cancelled excepts the World Championship.
It is what it is...
Let‘s see if World’s is a display of who’s worked hard under these crazy circumstances and who‘s being lazy...
Stay healthy and keep going!
Radar systems and camera systems measure club speed on the same "moment" of time but at different "points".
Just prior to impact: geometric center vs. club face - there‘s no right or wrong, you should simply be aware of the difference.
Hitting pads / headcovers / something large enough to ignore making "good" contact but soft enough to not break your wrists is:
- going to make you contract more muscles
- the perfect bridge between speed sticks and a "real golf shot"
Benefits of smart speed training cycles for golf:
1. longer drives
2. less distance into greens
3. less club into greens
4. everything with the same effort
Pushing your max speed will also increase your average without feeling any different.
…when they have
@CallawayGolf
Chrome Soft X Practice balls at the driving range and it finally makes sense to push speed.
Does this speed make sense in competition? I don‘t think so. But it definitely helps to smooth an optimized 220 ball
@Fit_For_Golf
@TrackManGolf
IMO:
depends on speed: reasonable and good enough for most players.
for performance stuff and when it comes down to spin, the metal dot / rct ball helps but spin axis is still calculated / pretty bad. good lighting in the impact zone helps to get better camera-based calculations.
Starting off my twitter career with a quote: 'Champions are made in the off-season'
- no idea who said that and I won‘t google it to act like I knew.
Anyways, LET‘S GO!

#offseason

@hutch_golf
the amount of deflection = change in dynamic loft
kick speed = added club speed
a shaft can be bend forwards but trend backwards, resulting in slower club speed than vice versa
Speed
Just gaining strength has no guarantee on increasing driver distance. More strength does not always correlate to more speed. I’m fact more often it does not. The workouts make sure you have the potential and the muscles to do it safely without hurting yourself.
In order
@hutch_golf
@TheStackSystem
You could potentially go through the whole 12 segments. But my thought behind it was actually to focus on 1 or 2 elements you define as your biggest power source and strengthen those. (combining mechanics & speed training) Start by picking one and give it a shot!
