The best public health advice is simple and factual. How many cases could be avoided if government messaging was like this?
Drowning in omicron news? My takeaway: highly transmissible, can re-infect those who’ve had covid or vaccinated but likely less severe illness. High attack rates at parties/dinners. Best to reduce close contacts heading into Xmas, avoid crowds & wear masks in shops/transport.

It’s absolutely hammering it down again this morning in Cranleigh, Surrey. The 4.5 acre lake we dug earlier in the year, which has sat empty all summer, is completely full from the last few weeks. Hard to believe there is still a hosepipe ban in force.
"Thames Water has confirmed the hosepipe ban currently in place in the areas it serves in Surrey will continue for the foreseeable future".
Just another example of the water industry's profiteering and how the regulatory system has totally failed.

Our annual regulatory invoice arrived today. Just shy of £48k this year. Most of that goes to fund the compensation to customers of failed firms that were allowed to mis-sell by an ineffective regulator. And you wonder why regulated financial advice is so expensive.

Earlier today I drove to see my daughter, first visit since the lockdown started. She lives with her mum who is vulnerable due to chemo last year, so we sat on either side of the lawn for a long chat. Can’t wait for hugs again when this is all over.

Smashed it! 5km Swim in 1 hour 16 minutes. Definitely tide assisted (I was only 10 minutes slower than the winning time last year!) but a beautiful river for a swim and feeling very happy I decided to do it.

Former financial planner here. Lots of 'inflation halved' celebrations from politicians this morning. Watch out using that sort of language. Prices are still rising, and well above the Bank of England target. Plus, rising inflation slowing is not the result of government action.
