Why does a prospective employer whilst completing an application form need downloaded & documented proof that I got a C in GCSE English & a D in maths all the way back in 1990? Is that something I’d really blag especially with those 💩 grades! I’ve got a MA since then #jobsearch

@JSHKT20 Trust me the average Vietnamese doesn’t even know about any of this and whilst they throw their rubbish in the rivers that flow in to the Mekong Delta & out to sea eventually or burn rubbish by the side of the road as there’s no ‘bin day’ this is a waste of money & time 🙄

@BriW74 @ReasonableCop Then again it could be better if it was back to Berks, Bucks & Oxfordshire county forces again…covering each other for mutual aid needs & some collaboration…but separated out…that way not every body is blocked en masse for things like this when your area’s not involved 🤷🏻‍♂️

@comms_sherlock Yep…and you could predict this…not where or by whom necessarily but at least the time period 🤷🏻‍♂️

@__theskipper__ It is…especially as it’s a safeguarding mechanism…nobody is charged or prosecuted and no criminal record regardless of how many times you’re referred…in a way doesn’t feel too dissimilar to this police vetting issue that’s just hit the headlines around ‘risk & mitigation’

@__theskipper__ All these incidents highlight where people fall out of focus and the time between a referral and the incident is telling London Bridge (Khurram Butt) = 18 months Parsons Green = 2 years Reading = 3 years Southport = 5 years Manchester Arena = 5 years Southend = 7 years

@__theskipper__ There’s also a time lag between a referral and the next incident…often caused by a lack of ‘eyes on’ and people slipping away from service provision or the ability to provide this when they transition from child to adult…often years later…

@__theskipper__ Prevent can be prevented from preventing by it’s a strict narrow focus subject to CT legislation…dare to share inhibits things as does PR around which ideology is ahead in the stats…that’s before you get in to bad practice & poor case management

@JSHKT20 @DannyShawNews No doubt the ‘Xperts’ will tell us…but the evidence is there about timescales of (initial) Prevent referral to incident: London Bridge (Khurram Butt) = 18 months Parsons Green = 2 years Reading = 3 years Southport = 5 years Manchester Arena = 5 years Southend = 7 years

@DannyShawNews 7/ that’s not saying that mistakes were made…people didn’t do what they should have when they should have with this case (or the others)…however…all of the cases have seen a time lag of approx 5 years before an incident…so how can this be tackled?

@DannyShawNews 5/ for me in my own experience these 2 situations are contributing factors to becoming more extremist, disenfranchised, dissolute & ultimately dangerous when any support is lost or a safety net is pulled away & they become invisible (apart from online)…until they hit the news!

@DannyShawNews 4/ status…as with age once somebody is finished with or even kicked out of the education system it’s difficult to know what they are doing…again ‘eyes on’ lessens to the point young men can ‘disappear’ and leaves them even more vulnerable than before in this regard…

@DannyShawNews 3/ once somebody is 18 they are basically left to their own devices where support is available or needed…anything that was in place as a ‘child’ centred service is gone…some can’t handle that & can go down a path more rapidly b’cos there’s no safety net & ‘eyes on’

@DannyShawNews 2/ age…many initial referrals capture people at a young age…when they’re seen as vulnerable…but they don’t necessarily present a viable CT risk…as in they don’t have intent or capability (yet) despite the ‘engagement’ being present…once somebody passes 18 there’s a hole…
