Excited to see my paper with @Kaitlin_Woolley out at JCR! We find that consumers rely on the proportion of categories completed (e.g., sets of workouts) rather than their absolute progress (e.g, total number of workouts completed) when determining their goal progress. @JCRNEWS
Goal achievement frequently involves completing a number of smaller goal-related actions. Consumers categorize such actions and determine goal progress based on the proportion of categories completed. By @marissa_sharif + @Kaitlin_Woolley Read more ⬇️

Thanks to @marissashandell for a fantastic visual depiction of our work!
@Wharton @marissashandell We often abandon bigger, long-term goals when suffering setbacks along the way. "Emergency reserves" – "flexibility within a goal that’s available if you need it" – can help you stay on track, @Wharton Prof. @Marissa_Sharif found: 📝: @MarissaShandell

Super cool to read about the successful impact of emergency reserves at Noom! Thank you Aline for the support!
I’ve been crushing on ‘emergency reserves’ ever since I read @marissa_sharif’s first paper on them. So I was beyond thrilled to hear @jackbres share how @noom uses them to help its users. Read my interview with Jack in @Forbes:

Check out our new paper finding people are more likely to spend their remaining resources in a used (vs. unused accounts). Lead by the amazing Siyuan! Keep an eye out for her as she’s going on the job market this year!
🚨New paper (w/@marissa_sharif) is out in JEP:General! We find that people are more likely to spend their remaining resources in a used (vs. unused) account. For example, people are more likely to spend the $10 remaining on a used $100 gift card vs. an unused $10 gift card.
