we do not spend enough time gushing over how great John Bogdanove is. Great Cartooning skills, amazing draftsmanship and gestures.

Yo man-I know this is coming from a good place-but it wreaks of privilege. Some parents/adults can only afford the inexpensive Walmart gift set and it means the world to the kid to have that encouragement. They’re learning-it doesn’t need to be precious now

But it serves no purpose. You aren’t creating anything or adding to the story. It’s like adding cool whip to a well planned pizza. You could, but why? Silly. Make something original
Toth famously said " Strip it down to the essentials and Draw the hell out of what's left".
Calling something "simple" because of a lack of (over)rendering implies that less lines = less work.
Here's Toth keeping it Simple
Joe Rosen did a masterclass on lettering/composition/pacing on BORN AGAIN. This book doesn't hit as a hard without his perfect placement and choices. Wonder how much of this was planned by Mazz during layouts? This is a perfect panel
Let’s spend Monday gushing over Barry Windsor-Smith, shall we? This is the closest we will get to seeing how Michelangelo would’ve drawn comics. Classic draftsmanship and beautiful storytelling
Oh my gosh-these I love Lucy strips by Bob Oksner are beautiful! The simplicity of design and the staging/gestures!! Honey moley
The panel with Lucy messing up Ricky’s hair!!! So good
Comics people:
What are some comics/graphic novels that you would consider structurally or formally MUSICAL? Think of the way a comic uses rhythm, or has very deliberate pacing towards a climax, or recurring motifs and ideas. Not necessarily comics about music/musicians.

But this particular thing is meant to be seen/experienced horizontally. You shouldn’t change an artists vision just cuz. Not to mention that nothing in this is “created” again-no reason other than you can. I’ve yet to see why AI should be used
This whole thread reads like a bunch of folks who see themselves as these villains-which speaks to their lack of self reflection? These guys are the power fantasies they wish they were-the charming manifestations of their worst thoughts-but instead of learning they are empowered
The final cover of David Mazzucchelli's Batman: Year One. This will be available in July. Yes, it is a wraparound cover. Designed by the great Chip Kidd. I know so many of you are excited about this one, but not as stoked as me—I've been hoping for this for more than a decade.

hauntingly beautiful MEXICAN GOTHIC. I would find an army of ghosts to draw this book as a graphic novel.
One of the best examples of TOTH’s " Strip it down to the essentials and Draw the hell out of what's left". Is Michael Lark’s work on TERMINAL CITY.
Not a wasted line in the entire run
