Same with appliances our electric fans stop working in 2-3 yrs but our 20 yr old one with the metal grill still works fine
Our grandparents used to have staple/everyday shoes and jewelry that lasted them so long that they passed on to kids and grandkids as heirlooms and I have “high quality” shoes and earrings falling apart after like 1 year of wear cause I “wore it too much”????

From my experience selling at Comiket/Comitia in Japan vs selling at anime cons in America, I couldn't agree more. At American cons I felt forced to make fan art prints/merch in order to sell anything, while the original manga I self-published would sell maybe 5-10 copies, but
