Really ironic seeing Kenyans act as if Somalis are non-natives, especially considering that Cushitic people predated the arrival of other ethno-linguistic groups in Kenya by more than a millennium. We should honestly be questioning their nativity rather than the other way around.

The author of the book you're using to claim Ifat was an Argobba-founded state is referencing the work of Al-Umari, published in 1349. In Al-Umari's work, he states that "Abyssinian" is spoken in Ifat, which the author believes likely alluded to an Ethio-Semitic language.

The idea that north east Africa had the most advanced civilisations in sub-saharan Africa is rubbish. Outside ethiopia (that is frankly overrated) none from that region can compare to the likes of Ghana, Mali, imperial kanem, imperial Songhay. Also amongst...

The original homeland of Ifat & it's leadership was Zayla & its surrounding region. It only expanded into Shewa in 1285, after conquering the Shewa Sultanate. This guy thinks naming some Ethiopian province after a historically Somali polity means that it originated from there.

Photos of Kismaayo taken in the early 20th century. This city grew from being virtually non-existent to a bustling coastal metropolis in a matter of decades following the arrival of Somalis who re-conquered the surrounding region of Jubbaland in the 19th century.

Btw, all first-hand accounts of those who visited Muqdisho clearly described it to be a Somali city. Instead of countering the wignats who routinely post that Gondar & nearby bridges were built by Europeans, these bums devote their time & effort into discrediting Somali history.

After WW2 the U.S funded the reconstruction of European and Japanese infrastructure/industry to create an export market for their goods and to have strong allies. It cost the U.S 150 billion to do this. Imagine what 200+ billion could have done for the Ummah. It’s a shame Wallahi

Inshallah If this were to come to fruition we need to make sure the sources/tributaries of the Juba & Shabelle rivers are within Somalia. Having your most important rivers begin in a neighboring country is a serious geopolitical weakness.

Anytime one of these snowteps sees an accomplished African civilization, they either start an unprovoked mockery campaign against it or try to find roundabout ways to attribute it to themselves. This dimwit below is really out here trying to argue North Africans are Europeans.

Every francophone African country should prioritize changing its lingua franca. Of the 29 francophone countries, 24 are African, making up 150 million speakers. That Number will only increase in the coming decades. They're single-handedly keeping the French language relevant.

When people say Africans enslaved their people, let's put this in perspective. Could you imagine large colonial ships arriving on your land, met with force and negotiations made for survival and told to bring more like you, or we will take you instead? I mean, think about that

You fail to realize the concept of nation-states is relatively new, only gaining popularity during the 19th century onwards. Before this, most polities in the Horn were multi-ethnic. Also, the genealogy of the Walasma dynasty is recorded, no need for historical revisionism.

@Inashareef Yet none of them were unified under a single banner for the Somalis but rather under Islam. Ifat, Adal and the whole Walashma dynasty were founded by Arabs and Hararis. There’s no continuity from them to the current Somali state

Most people don't know this, but abundant natural resources often hinder a country's economic development. It's because the extraction of raw materials is at the bottom of the manufacturing value chain. Economists coined this phenomenon "the natural resource curse."
