Friendly ticket office staff gave me my day ranger & other tickets, as the machine wouldn't accept my card.
A ticket machine can't sell a day ranger ticket, so why close ticket offices?

Having waited at Euston for the first 319 diagram of the evening (last evening services were last Friday), we headed to Watford and I went back home.
Today, I got an email saying I was not successful 😞

Feltham and Peterborough signalling areas have had their last trains pass through.
I believe Feltham is now joining Ascot, whereas Peterborough is joining York.
What will be next to go? I have heard a few people say Wokingham, but will there be anything else?

So...what happened next?
I got talking to the driver. He had limited info.
I showed my track maps and we got chatting about the disruption, being a trainspotter & jobs on the railway.
Once the signal cleared, I was the only passenger on the train!

That's it. The LNR 319s are gone.
They've served us well, and I've enjoyed my time on them.
I couldn't make it this morning, but I saw it on Friday during the final evening services.

2 weeks ago, the embankment just south of Market Harborough became unsafe for trains to travel over.
This resulted in a unique opportunity to ride the diversion to Leicester via Corby and Oakham, so let's do it!

This might be my favourite station of the entire trip!
It's beautiful and has the Royal Albert bridge that we pass over, as well as the brilliant sights around us.
What's even better? 800008 is my chariot to another new station!

Fareham bay platform ✅
This is as rare as it comes! The bay here isn't scheduled to be used next until 2025!
GWR were terminating here as there was engineering work in the Portsmouth area, so I really wanted this done!

I made it to Chester!
There's lots of traction here, including the now off-lease TfW 175s, as well as 950001 stabled at Chester Depot.
Other traction includes a new Merseyrail 777, a Northern 156 and a TfW 150, which is my train to Crewe!

No EMR so TL are serving the rarely used fast line platforms at Harpenden, Harlington and Flitwick!

Bourne End platform 2 is only used in the peak hours, splitting Marlow - Maidenhead trains into 2 trains, providing a more frequent service. (Every 30 mins instead of 45)
I'm glad I got this done! Now to pop into Marlow!

This station is about 20 mins walk from Bedford Midland and it's one of 2 single platform stations on the line!
There's not much here but thankfully it's a 25 min wait for 150139 to take us to the next station!

The terminus of the line from Newcastle/Manchester. TPE & Northern serve this station.
This is a lovely seaside town, with great views & the Saltburn cliff tramway to/from the pier.

What a lovely station this is! Opened a few years back, this station sees a train every 2 hours in each direction on a Saturday.
