Experts with language skills in most of the Arab world would tell you that if Hezb attahrir is out in the street screaming ‘Jihad’’, you should run away and call the police; but you are the police.
We've been tagged in quite a few posts with video and photos from the Hizb ut-Tahrir protest in central London this afternoon.
Below is an update that explains what we've done in response and the decisions reached following advice from specialists in this field.

If I were hired because my ethnicity helps a corporation or institution fill some diversity quotas and not because I am good for the job, I would consider it an insult. Maybe it makes some feel warm and fuzzy being a white saviour but this is not what ethnic minorities need.
There was plenty of time for asking questions at the event. Most of the questions were challenging Kathleen Stock’s views. She answered. It was nice.
Gluing one’s hand and staying silent is hardly a substitute for conversation.
This evening I glued my hand to the floor of the Oxford Union debating chamber, wearing a t-shirt which said “NO MORE DEAD TRANS KIDS”, in front of Kathleen Stock during her talk at the Union. Here’s why I felt I had to take this action:
I am an immigrant.
This renaming is a sickening disgrace.
Reading Anne Frank as a young Moroccan girl was my first encounter with injustice. The amount of innocent lives it cost to achieve peace in Europe should not be buried under the pretence of appeasement.
A daycare in Sachsen-Anhalt is changing its name to erase Anne Frank, for fear of offending "parents with migration backgrounds"
The daycare says it would like a name "without political background" and has chosen "World Explorers" instead
Read novels.
Read poetry.
Learn dead languages.
Study stuff that won’t make you a productive and disposable part of the machine.
Be gloriously useless.
“British countryside's 'white and middle class' image puts off Asian visitors, claims BBC presenter.”
This sounds a lot like “Asian visitors are biased against native British citizens”.
As a white person, we must recognise our privilege under white supremacy, colonialism and imperialism. People of colour have been denied equality because of conscious and unconscious racism and prejudice. So yes, we should feel guilty and ashamed.
When I was 11, my mother didn’t want me to take Latin because it was a waste of time, and it wouldn’t get me a real job. I taught myself Latin, then bits of Greek. Accessing the sources of myths, legends, concepts, laws that shape our lives is basic intellectual honesty.👇
Suella Braverman is a walking, talking exemplar of assimilation, not multiculturalism, and a great one to that. And she can, believe it or not, have any political view she wants.
'The idea that Suella Braverman can say that multiculturalism has failed, when she is a walking, talking exemplar of its success...'
@mrjamesob
points out the irony of the Home Secretary's comments on multiculturalism.

All my support. For what it is worth, if we all get cancelled, we can just start a university in a forgotten wood, near a river, and call it Camford.
The idea that a statue could be a “a hate crime” and could lead an ethnic group in particular into violence is racist.
Ethnically minorities should not be used as emotional hostages to the reassessment of colonial history.
‘The reason why there is a statue of Colston is not because he was a slave trader, it was because of his charity work’
Dr Marie Kawthar Daouda discusses the removal of the Edward Colston statue in Bristol.

Jordan Peterson has convinced millions of people of the benefits of good clinical psychology. Now the College of Psychologists of Ontario is after him. They can pretend this sinister move isn't about politics, but of course it is.

I can’t imagine black people buying into this for a single second. She will get no validation, no affirmation from the community she imitates.
In the meantime, women: “Sure honey, whatever makes you happy, you’re a girl, put on a dress and take our medals and our toilet seats.”
I was barely twelve, on a linguistic trip to the UK, staying in Ramsgate, when King Hassan II of Morocco passed away. I remember a lovely old gentleman who knew I was from Morocco bowing respectfully and saying: “I am sorry your king has died”. … 1/
And to my fellow libertarians who stress choice - I am not sure how we honour agency or autonomy by handing over the power of our death to doctors, law courts and the state. (2/2)

"I'd never studied Latin or Greek, and at first, the prospect of studying texts like Homer’s Odyssey and Vergil’s Aeneid seemed daunting. But as I started to read them, I fell in love with these poems." A lovely, positive story about discovering Classics:
Mrs Latifa Ibn Ziaten, whose son Imad gave his life to protect the children of a Jewish school in Toulouse 🇫🇷 in 2012, introducing teenagers to the Rabbi of Tangiers 🇲🇦. This lady is doing more for peace than all the UK pro-Hamas protesters together.
Blessed are the peacemakers.

Two photographs of the royal family. Pale, stale, stiff, boring, out of touch — versus — diverse, cool, fun, Beyoncé loving. I know which event I’d rather be at and it isn’t the kilt wearing kind.
From CS Lewis (1958 letter):

Tomorrow is my birthday, and as a birthday treat, I will be presenting a paper on why we need the kind of college life that the 1792 French Revolutionaries wanted to destroy.

Zemmour tells an interviewer he will bring back Latin and Greek to French schools from 6th grade. When asked if they will also learn Python, PHP, JavaScript, he says, “I don’t understand.” When explained that this means they will learn to code, he answers quite plainly, “No.”
Slavery is the ONLY thing students ever hear about Africans. Nothing about the dynamics between the Portuguese, the English, and West Africa. Nothing about the African kingdoms, their wars, their slave trade. Africans were not just victims, they also did bad things, like anybody.
So, actress Adjoa Andoh now says school curriculum should be changed to teach children more about slavery as she speaks on podcast recorded weeks before her Coronation comments branding Royal family 'terribly white'.
What word would you use to describe her?
The result of destroying classics will be that groups who still value a classical education will transmit it to their children, who will benefit from a deeper, broader understanding of thoughts and languages. Removing any bit of a previously kept knowledge is intellectual murder.
The Education Department just informed Princeton that it's under formal investigation following the president's declaration that racism is "embedded" in the university. If true, that would violate the Civil Rights Act, rendering it ineligible for federal $.

The truly shocking stat here is that 53% of 18-24-year-olds support the UK Government censoring (/burning) books, with a further 22% completely indifferent.

An elderly French lady asked me where I was from. I almost replied something mean; but I bit my tongue and said “Morocco, what about you?” She said “I’m from Morocco too!”
She was born and raised there and knew the country better than I do.

Classic culture teaches us one essential lesson: “It is not about you”. One’s life is not about one’s feelings. The supreme virtue is to step out of self-pity and accept whatever might come with dignity. Command over oneself is the true freedom.
Funny how wokism brands Ibn Rushd, Ibn Sina or Ibn Khaldun as precursors obliterated by colonial thought. Dante admired Ibn Sina, Machiavelli admired Ibn Khaldun, Boethius admired Ibn Rushd. Please read the European canon before decolonising it.

Unsurprisingly, the assumption is that only black slaves ever worked in a field.
The despise for manual labour and the presumption of « white collar dignity » in action.
And this we become Netflix and Deliveroo-fed maggots, our brains only valued for what we can pour out of it in front of a flat screen.
What I learned from Classics is exactly what saves me from being a robot.
