There's something hard for us, children of the colonised, to articulate because the world is upside down. Europe and its descendants, can't differentiate between principle and episode. This is why Germany (and much of Europe) is doomed to be genocidal. Here is what I mean. 🧵

The Holocaust was the culmination of European violence. On principle, its components: racial supremacy, concentration, biopolitics - happened before, ( the Nama and Herero genocide), and elements of it after (Kenya). Europe only feels guilt about the episode, not the principle.

When you can say let them drown in the English Channel, or that there is no difference between Palestinian civilians and Hamas. When you can see our relatives fleeing war and treat them like flies and ants; that is the Hitler inside of you. Confront the principle, not the episode

And so Europe believes that its crime was not the principle of genocide as such, but the crime against Jews. It seeks penance for the episode but reconciles itself with the principle of genocide which has been ongoing for centuries, and which was perfected in colonial occupations

And so this is why we see the absurdities in Germany. Germans do not believe that holocausts were the problem, or else they would learn about the Nama and Herero genocide in school. They believe that the holocaust was the problem, and that Israel can give them penance.

The fascist batons, the rounding up of dissidents the kidnapping, the banning of BDS, the defence of Israel in the ICJ, all of this is fine, because it is not the principle of fascism which it condemns, only the episode. It mistakes the episode for the principal.

Theu can't understand a simple premise which we must try to teach them in vain. The Holocaust, Leopolds Congo, the Malaya emergency, and today, the genocide in Gaza -- all of it must be condemned. What the "jew" was to your grandparents is what the Arab is to you.

Every single stereotype, that Palestinians are brutes, human animals, rapists, that they are misogynists, their children terrorists in waiting, women accomplices. These tropes arenot wrong, unless directed at Jews, because the episode, and not the principle is condemned.

And this is how Europe, which refuses to actually confront its violence, will forever be doomed to repeat it. I am Black. I am also a Muslim. There is no longer a Jewish question in Europe (and thank God Europe can learn) but there is a Muslim question.

I just want you all to realise that right now this is the discussion the right are having. Their choices are either: antisemitism against a so-called Jewish elite, or philosemitism in support of a god-chosen so-called Jewish elite (and state). And they call us antisemitic?

Are Jews "overrepresented" among the corrupt ruling elite? Maybe, but they're also overrepresented in: -Scientific discoveries -Live-saving medical breakthroughs -Musical, theater, literary, and film masterpieces -Conservative groups fighting against the corrupt ruling elite

Unsurprisingly, Iranian monarchists living in the diaspora are quite excited about the prospects of their country being bombed. Like the Shah, their problem isn't the oppressive boot, it's that the Iranian bourgeoisie aren't the ones wearing it.

Read article I've written for @JSTOR_Daily about how black radicals once looked to Imperial Japan for inspiration. It was a contradictory fascination. These were anti-imperialists who dubbed a brutal empire the "leader of the Darker races" vía @JSTOR_Daily

9) a civilian side and military side. The military side call the shots, with the support of UAE and Saudi Arabia. They are the ones pushing the government to normalise relations with Israel. Needing to compromise, the civilians follow suit with fear of a full coup.

Days ago 750 drowned in the Mediterranean and too many were okay with that. 200 alone were Pakistani refugees and the Greek Government let them drown. 2 Pakistani billionaires, and 2 others, paying $250k each, inspired history's biggest deep sea operation. We are a sick species.

And if you see unhelpful conversations, even if coming from legitimate grievances, don't engage. That def means, don't harass people airing legitimate grievances, because you too, by engaging , are also being an unwilling tool of forces greater than us all.

It's really important to me that somebody like CLR James existed. He was principled, unapologetically black, he interacted with and was respected by Black Radicals, but he never compromised on his beliefs, even when that put him odds with his comrades.

We can not speak of a black radical tradition, absent of Marxism. I strongly recommend you read this article where @ChardineTaylor , demonstrates the Marxist-feminist roots of intersectionality, and the ongoing liberal campaign to hide them.

@noname That's the right approach! Really happy to read this. Be committed to a radical transformation of society but never let yourself be swallowed up by a political cult.

@ItssAaliyaah Reach out to the NUS/ the student union, reach out also to the UCU, considering that at least in my uni (Cambridge) there's a specific clause for extensions regarding the situation in Ukraine, your uni probably has that too. Call them out for being the racists they are

Hi all, after a long absence, I'm back! For this month's column for black radicals for @JSTOR_Daily , I've written on the Zanj rebellion, when black slaves rose up against the Medieval Islamic caliphate of the Abbasids in late 9th century Iraq.
