Had two main goals when I first started F1 - to get into CST right after F2 and to start CST as a Ms.
Glad that it’s all coming together now! What makes it all the more sweeter is that I’m now back home celebrating it with my parents ❤️

Well, I come from Malaysia where the hierarchy is still deeply rooted and can I just say the doctors there are still undervalued? They’re paid RM9/h (roughly £1.50) and work >72h/week. No overtime pay nor TOIL because exception reporting doesn’t exist.

To my friends who got married during this pandemic, please practice family planning.
Heard a few friends who are pregnant got lectured by doctors, asking whether the pregnancy is planned or accidental.
Even if you told them the pregnancy is planned, they will ask - why now?

My dad is a cancer patient. But also no news from MySejahtera. Someone advised him to walk in to the district hospital (which was a PPV) to register. He showed them his cancer appointment card and was immediately given an appointment roughly 2 weeks from that day. Hope this helps

My Form 2 teacher said I’m more stupid than a bird. My high school career guidance counsellor and sixth form teacher said it’s impossible to get into a gov funded uni for medicine (as I’m Malaysian Chinese and was an STPM student). 1/3
I want to hear some underdog stories. Tell me about your 12th grade advisor who said you wouldn’t get into college, your premed advisor who said you wouldn’t get into med school, etc. tell me all the ways you’ve turned their doubt into fuel 💪

Whilst commendable, not sustainable.
As a keen bean F1, I used 80% of my annual leaves to scrub in, attend surgical courses/conferences. That was on top of going in when I’m off. Needless to say, I burnout really quick. Learned the hard way to set boundaries with myself.

Prior to Covid I was a Uni student. During chill postings, went out with friends for food, cafes in KL were the best. On weekends that I need to study, Herserlef was the place to go. I miss driving in KL tbh. Life changed so drastically these two years.

She mentioned that male HCW are always assumed by patients to be doctors, while female HCW are always mistaken to be nurses. Just like how if you google translate “dia seorang doctor”, it automatically translates to he is a doctor, despite the gender neutral term “dia”
