to everyone who isn't caught up with yotd's manga: please re-read if needed, or catch up! the politics get messier, there's info on yona's childhood and her parents, there's new female characters that slay... also there's a kiss so heated that hak gets bonked on the head
it's so funny to me that after hak confessed to yona he just went on his daily life like nothing happened while everyone around him was SHAKEN to the core
sometimes i forget yona suffers from constant nightmares and that she's had a panic attack. she's toughened up quite a bit (especially in the current arc) but she's going to need time to process... everything.
one of my favorite hakyona moments was when yona wanted to compete in an archery tourney but she didn't believe that she could win so she held back from doing so, only for hak to sign her up on the spot AND bet all his money on her victory 🫠
in the second pic kusanagi comments, "yona and hak are too different in height and they don't fit in the same scene, so sometimes i regret having hak be 188cm. but i guess it was needed that be that height to brandish that large heavy spear while running with yona under his arm."
when shin first saw lena, he thought that she had, and i quote, "glittering hair and a lustrous appearance"... when it's lena's turn, she describes him as having a "handsomely sculpted face" and a "serene voice"
okay, you two... it's been 5 minutes but just date already.
i feel like people forget that despite hak being yona's bodyguard, he's not "unfit" for her as a lover. he's a general, the grandson of the wind tribe chief and most importantly, he was held in high regard by yona's father. even her mother, if you want to go that far back.
- Good manners, absolute gentleman
- Protective
- Attentive; listens and remembers well
- Reliable
- Will never complain about your cooking
- Supportive
- Cats love him
i wonder if she ever told king il about that vision. maybe that's part of why he couldn't let go of hak being yona's bodyguard (or even her husband, if the rumors are true). he was quite insistent that it absolutely had to be hak.
the insanity that yona’s mom telling hak to “protect yona” wasn’t just a coincidence, she quite literally saw hak as yona’s protector in her future right there…they are literally soulmate energy
i find it cute when yona reprimands hak and he just stays there and accepts it 😭 one of the greatest warriors in the entire kingdom being constantly pushed around by a 157cm princess...
no because i really thought obi's love would go unmentioned or that he and zen would be in bad terms if he said the truth but these two ended up understanding each other more and bonding over the fact they want to protect the same person.... SLAY........
I remember watching 86 for the first time and thinking Shin was going to be the typical stoic and cold dark-haired anime boy but he's just... quiet, and kind, and polite.
i was expecting shin to be edgy as hell when i started the anime and instead i was met with a guy that's.... actually very polite and considerate? wth 😭 they still write those...
It's adorable that Lena tripped and Shin held her to keep her from falling both in the main series and in this spin off! And he carried the plushie for her like he carried her suitcase in V4 hehe a gentleman in every universe ☺💟
it took me some time to process that lena is actually more confrontational than shin, and she can be more intimidating than him when she's in the mood. don't judge a book by the cover. this cutie bites

86 V12
Shin suffers of vitamin L deficiency. "He's got it bad" 😂 In the same volume where Shin is propped up on a pedestal by other soldiers we're reminded that he's indeed still worthy of the title of Simpei Nouzen.
