@bussykiarostami @Variety The Fly is a great comparison because the studio that greenlit it also backed away because they were afraid it was too weird to be marketable. Just like with The Substance. This didn’t happen with Scream because it’s easily sold as a slasher. That’s her whole point.

@bussykiarostami @Variety It’s not ideal, but have you done many interviews? Sometimes you say stuff imperfectly. Scream is a great film but is also a pretty solid example of an easy-to-market horror flick. I disagree that The Substance is easily marketable in the same way. Mubi did a great job with it.

This mindset sucks and is unbelievably dystopian. Creating art that comes from a combination of your own hard work and imagination is one of the things that makes life worth living and these ghouls want to strip that away from our lives in the name of ‘convenience’
