I got hit by the massive layoff at Blizzard and as of today I’m no longer employed. I’m an associate character technical artist looking for a job immediately since I’m on a work visa. That sucks :/
I've just released a new personal project using
@rrrodreis
character, Beryl! It's a rig made in Maya 2024 and it's also game-ready so you can import it into a game engine for your personal learnings if you prefer. Take a look at it here!
So I'm wrapping this up, new League fan rig incoming by the Dark Waters Vi fan skin the amazing
@Courtney_Fay_M
worked on! Great pleasure on doing League related rigs and knowing more talented artists along the way, hope you guys can make good use of it!
Hey!
Finished this creature rig some time ago with
@Guille_L_T
Ghoul artwork! Pretty challenging ngl, I'm not used to creatures but it still was a nice project to work with, learned huge leaps with his feedback!
You can get it here:

Just about to finish my first week at
@Blizzard_Ent
as an Associate Character Technical Artist! I'll be joining the team on the unannounced survival game, and I'm really excited to be part of it along with the amazing team I've met this week! 💙
You will have SEVEN beautiful Chroma alternate skins on this one, use the control above her head to swap them (this control can have its visibility toggled on the global control as well)! :D
@puccarts
Thanks, Adriana! Relocating would not be a choice at the moment, currently looking for US or remote options since I’m on a work visa here. Thank you, though! I’ll consider this, for sure
Just had my spinal fusion surgery and as of day zero, I feel great! The doctor mentioned the scoliosis correction was very good and he will calculate exact percentages of correction later. Very happy with this! 🥰
The real "fun" begins at home when I'm no longer on opioids 🤡
Activision Blizzard employees announced they will stage a walkout on Wednesday, July 28 to protest leadership in the wake of a lawsuit highlighting harassment, inequality, and more within the company.
And as usual, I'll be accepting ANY kind of feedback as I really appreciate you guys taking the time to use the rig. Please do share any work you do with us, we'd love to see it! :)
Day 1:
My back hurts like hell and I feel very stiff 😿
Nurses tried to help me sit but I almost fainted out of pain, medications side effects hitting hard too. I can sit properly now but it took some time! As long as I don't move too much, I'm good
@tyler_soolum
Back when I gave up being a character artist to instead become a technical artist, honestly it was one of the best things that ever happened to me, even though it was frustrating to leave everything behind at the time! But I understand this finally! 😂
Just updating one month later!
I'm feeling mostly ok now, just a stiff feeling in my back but no constant pain, which is nice! It will take a few months before getting completely used to it, but I'm glad I went through the worst already. Here's a comparison picture:
@infinitisirrena
Exactly, and more often than not I see the same names everywhere. I think it's awesome that sometimes I see people that today are considered top of their fields asking/answering similar beginner questions a few years ago 😂
@jude_morey
@wuffles
Wow, that is truly awesome! Great animations as well, nice work! Always so wholesome seeing people using my rig for something cool :)
And as usual, if you have any feedback, don't hesitate to contact me (please). I'd love to hear from you if you have anything to add to my work, I will try my best to fix any problem that you encounter! :)
Day 2 (or 3? I don't know 😂):
I'll be back home soon already! Pain is being controlled with meds so I'm good as long as I'm taking them! 🙏🏼
I managed to walk nice and slow, and my movements are not that stiff anymore. Just a bit hard to lay down and get up by myself for now.
Hey everyone! For this one I wanted to try some League of Legends inpired, Black Mist Walker. I really like how this one turned out and I hope you enjoy it too.

Ghoul Rig by:
@lucathyel
Since the pandemic I've:
- Learned English speaking
- Got nice freelance opportunities from different countries
- Learned a lot of new rigging and Python stuff
- Met and got helped by many interesting people around the world
- Found out that I need spinal fusion surgery 😭
Since the pandemic I’ve:
-decided to start learning rigging, learned (still learning) and got a new job in rigging
-gained weight
-basically became a hermit
@Ben_Rosado
Wow, this is so beautiful! I was actually thinking about doing some more quadruped character rigging to practice. Would you be interested in collaborating with me on this? :o
@RobertAnim8er
Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 4, Dofus and League of Legends. Mostly because of the people I met because of them! Some of them are my best friends even today and it's impressive how everything started because of a game. :)
@Courtney_Fay_M
Hey, it's looking really nice! I love rigging league characters so I can get to your project soon if you want. Just need to finish the two characters I'm currently rigging, both are on their final polishing stages, though! :D
@LiquidSprocket
I don't have many useful tips since I'm new as well, but what helped me tons was to research and learn about the people who were interviewing me, just to make me feel closer to them (it helped me with the nervousness).
@tyler_soolum
HEY CONGRATULATIONS MAN! ALWAYS KNEW THAT YOU ARE TALENTED ENOUGH FOR IT!
I will join you guys there as soon as I can, it might take some time but I will be there! <3
@Courtney_Fay_M
@YBourykina
@itsiansu
@LeagueOfLegends
Turned out amazing, colors are top notch on this skin! :o
Always a pleasure to rig league characters, and thanks for letting me work with ya! I'll be posting the file to the public soon! :)
@RaySoyama
@Courtney_Fay_M
Basically the texture files are named with a suffix from 0 to 7, the controller attribute just holds an index of the texture and then the material from Maya reads it, replacing the last character of the texture file name with the index! Example: Chroma_0, Chroma_1 etc.
@infinitisirrena
This brings back some memories of a similar issue happening with me...and I spent a few days wondering day and night about it, it haunted me so much.
I will be doing a free workshop this Wednesday where I talk about things I would’ve loved to know when I was starting out. If you’re thinking about working in the VFX, Animation or gaming industry do join us!
@LiquidSprocket
Aside from that, make sure you have a few questions prepared beforehand on a note/second screen. Listen to a few music a few minutes before the interview just to make yourself more at home.
