Want to see something cool? For the past 14 months, I’ve had a port embedded in my chest to deliver lifesaving drugs directly into my heart (left). My oncologist and I agreed that my prognosis is now good enough that I could get it taken out today (right).

We lost my good friend and an incredible public servant a few days ago. I wish you all could have known (and been hugged by) Kate, but those who didn't should at least read her lovely obituary.
