seeing records like this from weimar germany always fills me with apprehensive dread because i remember what came less than a decade afterwards. this is a cartoon that could have easily been published in 2016. we need to prevent history from repeating.
From German magazine "Lustige Blätter", 1932;.Person on the left; "Careful, I'm not a man!".Person on the right; "That's okay, I'm not a woman."

@gendermarxism they hate independent cinema, they hate horror, and most of all they hate indie horror. and they hate trans people who make their own art about their own experiences.

thinking every day about how genius russell would have been if he had written the “de-generation” into 10 to be a fluke orchestrated by the toymaker as meta-commentary on the way that big franchises keep looking to the past instead of introducing new ideas . but instead he….
thinking about how much better 13's regeneration scene works without her just becoming david tennant again. it's perfect. wish we'd had this instead

the bbc will never cancel it as long as they exist, we’re not in ‘89, everyone understands its cultural value. disney pulling out on the other hand is a positive. they never should have taken it up. disney are fundamentally american, dw is british to the core, it’s not compatible.
I do not believe Doctor Who will be cancelled. But I do think now Disney will sadly pull out. Obviously something has went wrong as Russell was so confident before and now look. It's very uncertain but I am confident it won't be cancelled. It's too big to lose.

someone in the comments said it too but this just reaffirms my theory that the TARDIS herself, existing on a non-linear timeline, picks and chooses potential adventure settings based on the best doctor-companion team to suit each setting. i.e. she.
It is WILD that an all white TARDIS team would've rocked up at Finetime, saved Lindy Pepper Bean and her racist friends, handed them a new place to re-establish their Aryan fascist utopia and then fucked off back into time and space all proud of themselves 😬😬.

what’s with the whistle. why are they dressed like PE teachers.
Genuinely confused how this fits into the story considering their different outfits but I’m very intrigued . #DoctorWho

okay but this was one of the few cases in his era where the tears were actually earned. he spent a year with her and had to say goodbye knowing once he’d returned to his typical life of crazy paving he probably wouldn’t see her again for a long time.
Does anybody else think it's really unflattering on the actor and the story when the tears are unearned?. The total, repetitive waterworks and booming Murray Gold just make it really obvious that they're flubbing beats

we must also be careful because this conversation is also quick to spiral into “never trust a man if he’s sensitive, quirky or an artist, because he’s hiding his evil nature, only trust beefy stupid himbos”. i am exaggerating but i’ve seen similar sentiments.
We do need to have a conversation about “nice feminist men” and how their feminism often serves to conceal a predatory nature. A certain type of man has always used the prevailing ideology to win the trust of women. Today he may wear the mantle of progressivism.

look i understand you people love hyperbole but this is a simply insulting take to have when coleman/capaldi; tennant/agyeman; eccleston/piper; and smith/gillan/darvill existed. gatwa & gibson are decent enough actors but unfortunately they don’t reach the level of the above.
Gatwa-Gibson are maybe the best Doctor-Companion actors to have ever done it because this is truly astonishing

once again (no shade to you) people think twelve’s supposed cluelessness about social mores and phrasing is genuine rather than a painstakingly calculated persona. of COURSE he knows what ‘go to hell’ means non-figuratively. he’s toying with her.
I find it hilarious how he’s confused at how saying ‘go to hell’ out of the blue could be taken personally

i always think it was genius of sarah dollard to have *rigsy* be the returning side character from s8 in face the raven. because he was *Doctor Oswald’s companion*. so when clara faces her fate for becoming too doctor-esque, it’s *her companion* that sets the events in motion.
This week we're celebrating The Doctor (aka. Clara Oswald!) as we rewatch 'Flatline' 🖼️ What are your thoughts on this episode? 🤔

as a conclusion to the thread. you know what’s emblematic of literally everything that’s wrong with the new era, summed up with one building? . this.
i’m patriotic about very few things but doctor who is one of them. rtd2 is an attempt to make it attractive to “international” audiences (read: notice me usa pretty please!!!) and well it’s uh. not quite working out now is it.

i say this all the time but i wish 15 was written as more autistic. feel like the doctor’s lost that trait entirely. 11 12 and 13 have it in spades, 10 less so because russell is too neurotypical of a writer probably lol — 9 is, but more because of his war ptsd.
One of my favourite aspects of 13s character is her total lack of understanding for social norms. This is a common trait in many Doctors but no one captures it quite as well as Jodie does!

@MOuerthi yes, we. the point the article makes is actually pretty coherent — each and every one of us has authoritarian/groupthink tendencies that can be exploited by populist politicians. it’s why critical thinking is so vital, and you’re not displaying any of it.

@missh8ter i need to get off this app because it makes me so mad that people who don’t have elementary reading comprehension and understanding of different forms of text have proclaimed themselves the arbiters of taste and quality in writing.

@thonlything remember when radfems on here got really mad at people who were laughing at the movie as if it’s not a horror-comedy, because apparently that means we don’t take “women’s suffering” seriously (the woman in question: monstro elisasue).

one of the best defining traits of doctor who as a whole is the amount of older women in active roles who go on adventures. in a lot of scifi/fantasy the cutoff age for being a prominent female character is 25 unless you’re an aging queen. everyone’s a teenager somehow.
"She's absolute royalty. And what I really loved is writing Susan at the age that Carole Ann is now. Who says that older women can't have adventures? Susan absolutely can.”

excuse me, she worked on doctor who with PETER CAPALDI. the star beast is an afterthought in the talalay ouevre. as for the actual news: well, best news of the day that’s for sure. in a world that’s going to shit at least we have good omens directed by rachel talalay.
We officially have a director for Good Omens 3. Can I hear a wahoo for Rachel Talalay? 😇😈. For those who don’t know who she is, she worked on Doctor Who with David Tennant. @GoodOmensPrime @rtalalay #GoodOmens #GoodOmens3 . 🔗:

@TinthDoctor seconding what somebody said below about the Doctor and Master being retconned as brothers. it would ruin the dynamic of their relationship entirely and make it impossible to ship thoschei.

@hamishsteele maybe not THE (i’d say that’s “pain. pain. pain.” in WEAT), but surely up there. psychologically terrifying in a way that’s far more typical of “adult” sci-fi.
