Every time I perform a “hot” ureteroscopy (not easy in Nottingham currently), I become more convinced that along with hot SWL, it is definitely a service we should be pushing for. So satisfying when you can clear a painful stone straight away!

This has resided in the office in main theatres at Nottingham City Hospital since I was a student. I remember staring at it whilst waiting to do my first solo appendicectomy as an SHO, and now 25 years later waiting to do a primary URS. I think it’s still relevant and wise.
