Iām a week away from the release of my second novel and my lived-in experience is reminding me just how quiet the process is for small-time novelists. I find comfort that it matches the process of the actual writing. (Still excited though. š)

In this week's Vinyl Diaries Substack, I share the records that make cameos in my upcoming novel 'Somewhere in Hollywood' while revisiting my own 20s in the early-aughts. Postal Service, Flaming Lips, Outkast, and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs to name a few that captured the era! (It's been cathartic, as well as chapter-closing, looking back at this time.)

@amandafortini @walterkirn Same. Ours is pink so it works with February. But yes, agree that twinkly lights and pine is wintry and makes January feel less drab, for sure. I keep the snowflake decorations out too. āļø (This word has been ruined over the years.)

@Next2ndBestDude @geyanastasio Amazing. The energy must have been amazing when those bands were in their prime. But yeah in the 90s, pulling off a five-night multi-city run was the norm. Now, one show and Iām pooped!

@amandafortini These poses translate perfectly to photos but when filmed Iām always so embarrassed for these people. J.Lo, particularly, when filmed on the red carpet brings on the middle school giggles. TS is not too far off here. Gah!

@celestialbe1ng Crazy! Iām reading this while eating breakfast after years of skipping it. I was just thinking how much better having a balanced breakfast is over splashing black coffee over a grumbling stomach and then your post pops up. Our phones read minds now!
