Remember Ashwin saying that the Ahmedabad pitch started seaming more in the second innings due to the river water slightly floating up post sunset and the moisture affecting the surface a bit helping seamers.
Interestingly, Sachin told him about this.
@Fancricket12
Surya using Riyan's full quota of overs shows the need of the hour, 'Batters who can bowl' and that's where Sanju lost his spot to Riyan in the ODIs. If Abhishek can crack the SMAT and Vijay Hazare as an AR, especially being a LHB it'll be super beneficial for ICT.
On one side when Gill was abused by so-called 'fans', here are some fans, only positivity and behind the player despite the fact that he's had an average season.
Special to be involved in my first
@IPL
. Thanks to all the
@SunRisers
players, staff and fans for making me feel so welcome - amazing people!

This is clarity for me, they're not repeating the same mistake as in the 2019 WC. With a lot of uncertainty around first choice players, they're trying out backups which is only fair on them. Had KL Rahul not injured himself in the IPL, we wouldn't have seen Ishan feature..
As
@IndianMourinho
pointed out on how Bumrah's absence can be covered by India's top 3 top notch backfoot players, here are some numbers to add on to that:
Rohit in T20Is in Australia:
181 runs in 9 matches, best of 60 at MCG, 72% shots off the backfoot with 92% control
Close to 69% balls bowled by Bhuvneshwar this tournament has been dots! He's silently stepping up and Arshdeep is using the pressure created by him.

As we near the
#INDvENG
test series, let's continue our thread series. This time on one of my favourite bowlers, yes it is the spin legend Ravichandran Ashwin!
A man who thinks a lot both on and off the field, a movie buff and a cricket encyclopaedia in himself.

What if India plays this lineup:
Rohit Sharma (c)
Shubman Gill
Cheteshwar Pujara
Virat Kohli
Ajinkya Rahane
Ravindra Jadeja
K S Bharat (wk)
Ravichandran Ashwin
Jaydev Unadkat

All bases covered: Pace, spin and hit the deck.

Continuing the series of threads on fast bowlers, this time we look at someone who was really at his best in the second test in South Africa, Mukesh Kumar.
A gritty fast bowler who picked 2/0 in the 2 overs he bowled in the first innings in Capetown. Overall took 4 wickets.

Well, Marais Erasmus calls it a day on his international umpiring career post the Trans-Tasman Test series.
Personally was a fan of him, always felt he was with the bowlers while deciding on close calls.

A thread on the
#INDvENG
test series so far!
I feel it's been interesting and there are many factors for it, a lot of them would say Bazball had shaken India a bit but what I feel about it is, the pitches have been sporting, with everything in it for everyone in both games.
++
I've been thinking about this-
Why do I like Test Cricket so much?
What is there for 5 days? Why so passionate about it?
Truth be told, I just am in love with the ebbs and flows of it. A team on top one day might be staring at defeat on the other.
Thoughts?
#CricketTwitter
Lot of talks about changing the ball, field restrictions etc. I think the way the game has been going around, hitting 200 for fun these days, people like Bumrah, Pathirana and even Cummins have aced the art of keeping the batters quiet. That reminds me, where are the Yorkers
KL Rahul in T20Is in Australia:
108 runs in 6 matches, best of 51 at Canberra, 68% shots off the backfoot with 89% control
Virat Kohli in T20Is in Australia:
452 runs in 11 matches, best of 90* at Adelaide, 71% shots off the backfoot with 92% control
Landed in Bengaluru and saw the great man, Rahul Dravid. I couldn't grab a picture as he politely declined saying "Sorry yaar I need to go somewhere".
But fortunately managed to say Congratulations to him for the
#T20WorldCup
success.
Maybe next time a click 🤞🏻
With all due respect to you and the article, here is Samson's Strike Rates at different junctures in the IPL. I seriously feel if Jurel is considered because he can bat at 5 or 6, that'll be suicidal. This guy can bat from 1 to 5 anywhere, take down spin, take down pace.
Sanju Samson should be sure shot for T20 World Cup. But a request from the team management to have a wicket-keeper who can bat lower down could go against him as Jurel is being considered. Dube & Rinku will make the cut ahead of Gill.
Good chance for RCB to either pick Sean Abott/Adam Milne/Chris Jordan
If I was there in RCB camp, I'd also check Blessing Muzarabani.
@Fancricket12
@prasannalara
Since a lot has been spoken about India's bowling, Phase wise numbers in T20Is this year:
Powerplay: Overs 1-6
India - 59 wickets at 7.22 RPO (1044 Balls)
West Indies - 33 wickets at 8.27 RPO (714 Balls)
Pakistan - 27 wickets at 8.33 RPO (498 balls)
Not bad at all!
Before the next WTC cycle begins in June, India needs to address a few questions overall:
- Split captaincy in Tests and Limited Overs
- Split coaching in Tests and Limited Overs
- Transition of the side, as
@Fancricket12
mentioned it's an ageing side, it has to move on..
It's not quite the season that SunRisers would've liked and expected of. Plenty of positives to take from the tournament, a lot of areas to improve. Thanks for all the lovely memories

- Stokes' use

The IPL starts tomorrow, I posted a thread about what I look forward to from the teams.
But hold on, there's something more to the mix here, the home and away formats, more venues.
This being an ODI World Cup Year, this IPL will be closely watched, here's why I feel so...
A short thread on the recent incident in the Australia v West Indies series. The run out appeal incident. The rulebook says "The fielding side has to appeal to the on-field umpire for a decision or a referral to TV Umpire" and in a way umpire Abood was right in calling it out.

I've been thinking about team combinations for the World Cup. Rohit and Jaiswal could open, however it's our middle order which has failed to perform over the years. I wouldn't be surprised if Rohit and Kohli open and play Dube or Axar for batting depth and some cushion in
Feel like Mukesh Choudhary was hearing what
@prasannalara
had to say and now he's proving him wrong every other match now. 3/15 and he's almost broke the backbone of the MI batting.
Mukesh on 🔥🔥

18.4, 117ks from Kuldeep. It's one of those variations he developed recently, the quicker one through the arm, slightly wide of the crease and hits the correct spot!
@Fancricket12
IPL introduced Strategic Breaks for both batting and bowling sides.
IPL introduced DRS for wides and no balls.
IPL introduced Smart Review System.
Time for IPL to do away with pitch reports then?

IPL teams are likely to be allowed to retain 4 players - 3 Indians and 1 overseas or a maximum of 3 Indians and maximum of 2 overseas - Two new IPL teams will be allowed to pick players from outside depending on how many retention are allowed for 8 teams. (Source - Cricbuzz)
To all those who laughed at me, mocked me when I said this Indian team will not go down without a fight, this win is for you all 😁

Not really, having watched the game live vs MI, what I honestly feel is Dhoni is a guiding figure, final call is only by Ruturaj. Don't read too much into what's happening in the video, every keeper does that. DK sets fields too, so he's the RCB captain?
Ruturaj Gaikwad may be the captain of CSK on paper, but the reality is that MS Dhoni still manages everything on the ground, from fielding changes to strategy. Gaikwad will truly feel the pressure once Dhoni is not playing, and only then will we see the true face of his

This pitch reminds me of 2016 onwards test pitches, they used to be good for batting for 3 days, then slowly deteriorates from Day 4.
Vizag 2016 v SA, is one such pitch, India scored 500 in 1st inns, SA scored 431 in reply and India scored 331 in 2nd inns

Had it not been Rinku dada's 37(15), we would have been gone for all money. Obviously, credit to Jaiswal for that blazing century but Rinku saved us from embarassment.
Anyways, over to the Semis now as we face Malaysia on Friday.

Thanks a lot sir for replying 🫡
Absolutely agree!
160-170 games are fun to watch, that's where the skill of both batters and bowlers are tested to the T. We saw that in the RR v PBKS game, they made a match out of a moderate score.
Ashes begins today, my predictions:
Scoreline: 2-2 Draw
Highest Run getter: Joe Root / Steve Smith
Highest Wicket Taker: Ollie Robinson / Scott Boland
I feel this is gonna be closely a fought Ashes due to Aus's good bowling and Eng's strong batting.

So has Pant locked his floater spot to the US and Carribbean?
Wow that opens up so many dimensions, can play at 3,4, demolish spin and also finish games!
Samson also gives a serious competition to Pant.

My choices for the head coach:
Trevor Bayliss- Bold coach, superb Test record.
Ashish Nehra- Two IPL finals, two seasons. Excellent thinker.
Justin Langer- Top notch brain, reads the game well
I understand I might be jumping the gun, but just being hopeful.

Maybe, just maybe, Umesh pips out Unadkat, but my personal opinion would be to play Unadkat with the kind of abilities he's shown in red ball.
Pace, good BoL deliveries, Left-arm angle. In England, one can always take that chance with pacers.

Shashank is a classic T20 batter with power and Range hitting. He picks the right balls to score and doesn't hoick at everything randomly. Loves BoL deliveries, which sit up.
Even when he struggles vs Narine, he knows that if he sees him off, the rest
Show me one tweet which says these two are responsible, I'll bloody stop watching/following the game.
Spreading misinformation and hatred is a crime in India.
Your name says Wajahat, but you speak Wahiyat!
I feel sad for Siraj and Shami. They are facing the entire responsibility for this loss. Indians are bashing them for poor bowling in the final of the World Cup.
Needless to mention the brain he uses to set up batters, have multiple plans and of course the YouTube legacy of his own.
All in all, an inspiring figure for many aspiring cricketers and I really hope he pursues coaching after he retires, as Indian cricket needs him!

Interesting that Ashwin is employing these tactics to score and at the same time he's aware of Bumrah the batter. Realising he's struggling vs Rehan, Ashwin is protecting him whereas giving him strike early v Hartley where Bumrah is comfortable.

Someone help me understand this, 194/6 after 19 overs when DK got out and Karn Sharma hit Starc for fun last game, but you get Swapnil Singh as the impact sub who alongside Green manage 10 runs of the last over.

Jasprit Bumrah-The Phenom, X factor, Generational Bowler. He is an enigma, he goes against so much of the typical accepted fast bowling norms, almost everything about him is the opposite of expected norms

The test record speaks for itself, 10 wickets short of 500 wickets in test matches, nearing 100 test match appearances for India, what stands out is, he is only the 2nd player in World Cricket to have most man of the series awards in Tests with a total tally of 10 till date.

In T20Is, you just have 4 overs to bowl, normally you would think, 4 overs? The bowler will get hit for at least one over.
