Nova Scotians have done nothing wrong and shouldn’t be punished with a carbon tax.
Our province has a proven record of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our path to 2030 is more effective and affordable than a carbon tax.

Observations over a week back in NS after a year away: 1) our roads are enormous 2) our vehicles are Costco sized 3) public masking is more frequent here than the UK/Europe, but still low % 4) health care is in shambles 5) socializing is fun 😆 6) our new “car” is fantastic! ❤️🚲

Constant Upham was my paternal grandmother's uncle. When she was 3, he and 10 other Uphams were killed in the Halifax Explosion. Uncle Con had a general store & a phone. He called multiple fire halls to tell them about the serious fire in the harbour 103 yrs ago.

Did our first family bike camping trip this week (day 1 peninsula to Shubie Park, day 2 Shubie to Porters Lake via Cole Harbour, day 3 PL to peninsula via Shearwater. Met some obstacles & encountered a few aggressive drivers, but mostly a great experience. ☀️

Tonight was a positive evening on the doorstep with residents along the border of the new D7. Many people I spoke with feel, as I do, that 1 solution to our traffic woes is improved transit & safe places to cycle, roll & walk, so that lanes are not clogged when we need to drive.

Absolutely, Agricola (and all the intersections along it) needs cycling infra. Crossing North st on a side street without a protected or radar signalized intersection is not feasible. Agricola from the rotary to North would be beautiful for a pedestrian street too.

Thx for your advocacy, Martyn. I felt safer in my 30 km/hr traffic calmed TO neighbourhood than I do here in the most walkable part of NS. 50 k speed limit, 2-way stops everywhere, parked cars blocking visibility at intersections....Great graphic on the crosswalk hazards.
There is not an acceptable basic standard of protection for people of all ages and abilities who rely on appropriately safe infrastructure that considers and meets their unique needs and vulnerability to impact from vehicular traffic.

1. Bike share. It seemed to be in high demand. Great for tourists & locals. Winter maintenance?
If Hali implements kind of program we’d have to go electric. These basic bikes won’t cut it on our hills.

Today I canvassed with my youngest on Coburg, Walnut & Lilac. Not many folks were available, but we had a good time together & learned some details about a few empty lots in the neighborhood from a long term resident. We also spoke with students about a struggle with a landlord.

I think the existence of wide busy roads & large parking lots give the impression that the only way to arrive @ a destination is by personal vehicle. Gorgeous 28 min ride this am from central peninsula to CGC via mostly quiet streets & multi-use paths. *e-bike recommend for hills

I think North America needs to get serious about creating networks like these ASAP. Bridges & tunnels can help a lot to connect our residential neighbourhoods back together (currently divided by arterial “urban highways”).

Super proud of my kiddos. We completed our 60 day, 1457 km EuroVelo 6, 15 & 12 bike touring journey today. We will also cycle in England, but will use the trains more often as well. ❤️🚲🌍

Did you know that dryers aren’t really a thing in most of the world? During our year away last year, we rarely had access to one, so got used to rack or line drying. We spent time in 10 countries, 9 of them experience winter. Used ours twice since August.

Quite enjoying the temporary raised intersections & textured road surface on my street during the asphalt overlay construction process. When budget allows for permanent design & installation on any street, this type of design change can both deter and slow drivers significantly.

Almost hit on my bike by the driver of an SUV turning R onto Summer off of University this afternoon. I’ve been taking the lane lately to avoid close passes. If the road is wide, I’ve been moving over. Not anymore. 2nd time I’ve nearly been hit by drivers turning right lately.

I had a great day cycling out to Bedford (near CPA) for a meeting. E-bikes are amazing. 18 km each way, no sweat, no traffic. I wouldn’t do it with kids, but the route was reasonably safe for adults comfortable on the roads. Beautiful lake views too.
