alhamdulillah my parents actively encourage, practically throw me out the house with my brothers even, to attend taraweeh/tahajjud at the masjid during ramadan. like i cant imagine living like this
cancel me idc but as woman why do you want to be out at 2AM??? pray tahajjud at home if you're so desperate, please get this loud and clear that it's BETTER for women to pray at home
alhamdulillah for being somali fr cus as annoying as somali men can be… they’re nothing compared to how other diaspora muslim males behave. may Allah grant my muslim sisters patience
in somalia they stop mid argument and go “war horta salamu alaikum. nabiga ku sali” and its the funniest thing ever seeing a grown man swallow his rage to return the salam and send salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ 😭
coming from a community where women going to the masjid is normalized 😭😭😭😭 LIKE THANK GOD FR. women’s section full to the brim during the last 10 nights i love it here
hospital security asking me if my dad has a lot of money cus of the amount of ppl that visit him everyday 😭 how do i explain the concept of somalinimo to him
the way you’d never see a somali girl agreeing with a somali boy saying “women shouldn’t go to the mosque” “women shouldn’t do this” “women shouldn’t do that” 😭 like he’s not being taken serious fr. i need my muslim sisters to get up neowwwww
random anecdote but i remember one time when i was in somalia, the women’s section of the mosque was so full for maghrib that we were praying outside of the entrance. when some of the men saw this they started making space in the men’s section so we wouldn’t have to pray outside
didn’t make a fuss, just moved forward so we could get behind them and more women could enter the masjid and wouldn’t have to stand in the wind. imagine my surprise when diaspora muslims are trying to ban women from praying at the masjid all together 😭
@parkwoodfilms
absolutely! even outside of ramadan, the women’s section of somali mosques are always full! inshallah it becomes normalized in other communities as well cus there’s really nothing else like it 🥹💗
@imamiraball
i’ve noticed that in somali culture in general, women and men are involved in matters involving the deen. for example, islamic education isn’t seen as something that’s reserved only for men, alhamdulillah!
@hala202296
exactly this! when i hear women are left at home to deal with cleaning up after iftar while the men in the family go to the masjid my heart feels so heavy ☹️ may Allah make it easier for our sisters
i know a lot of yall consider them infallible and its easy to shift the blame onto hybe every time but they had plenty of time before enlisting to make their stance on this clear. idk i just think yall need to realize that they really are just celebrities at the end of the day
@Zoya_ysf
every timeee 😭 if there’s dishes to do after iftar he makes my brothers help with them as well so i won’t miss taraweeh like he doesn’t play about this at all 😭
@AnomiePhoenix
@omarsuleiman504
i dont understand why only muslims are being asked this question. why aren’t you asking israeli journalists and politicians if they condemn the IDF for the murder of innocent palestinians - people that they’ve been slaughtering for decades.
sneako trying to argue this entire thing from the christian angle, where eve tempted adam into eating the forbidden fruit with her, is insane. in islam, she was never singled out. Allah held adam and eve equally accountable
yall are acting like i outright called them zionists 😭 all i’m saying is they’re not above criticism and they’re no better than their celebrity peers (who yall have no problem calling out btw)
“hold them accountable for what” idk maybe staying silent on whats been going on for months. “but they’re in the military” taejoonminkook joined in december meaning they could’ve (and should’ve) taken a stance before enlisting but they didnt. hope this helps 👍🏽
@ijbolistani
i’ve always thought midwifery was so beautiful… bringing a new life safely into this world, doing everything in your power to make sure the mother’s okay, watching a mother and child’s first interaction and witnessing their bond strengthen in real time like yeah… yeah
@Iwanatakemylife
oh don’t get me wrong there’s still problems in our community. i’m talking about specifically how somali diaspora behave when it comes to deen. and can you tell me what your experience is like in somalia? cus i’ve lived there for years and had maybe a couple bad instances
highly doubt the un would agree to this cus then they’d be forced to actually DO something about israel blatantly murdering civilians… and we all know they cant be assed to do that
@lilyungdavid
how is it “accidentally killing civilians” when they knowingly bomb strictly civilian areas ? you’re not making any sense. stop trying to justify genocide.
sorry i have zero patience for speakers like akhi ayman because i know if it was a muslim woman giving talks like that yall would’ve burned her at the stake
see how quickly they went from “all hamas has to do is return all the hostages for this to end” to, “actually, keep bombing them even if the hostages are returned”. it was never about the hostages. it was always about murdering palestinians.
Hamas is offering all the hostages in exchange for a full ceasefire. In other words, if Israel agrees to lose the war, and accept Hamas's survival, it will give us the hostages.
If Israel takes this deal, we will be on the fast track to national destruction.
It isn't progressive to tell women they can't cover up if they choose to; those who ban the hijab and those who force it are two sides of the same coin.
Three Muslim women for Dazed's front cover in protest of France's ban on hijabs and abayas. Need this edition in my hands now.
sigh. i just think a lot of people approach the topic of hijab with no regard for nuance. seeing both (extreme) ends of the spectrum constantly go back and forth in such a fixed way is incredibly draining as a hijabi.
i literally got called a monkey by a radfem for saying i like wearing my hijab less than 24 hours ago lmao. yall demonize men of color and act like you’re superior to women of color
eve isn’t seen as some evil temptress in islam (like how she’s viewed in christianity). shaytan whispered to both adam and eve and led both of them astray. sneako trying to incorporate weird ideologies from christianity to justify his contempt for women is absurd
Sobering moment at jummah today, a child was screaming/crying throughout and it angered a lot (inc me) because after salaam everyone turned back angrily
Right after the imaam made the announcement that the janazah we're praying today was for a 5 year old child
@hatcherj10
@lilyungdavid
ohhhhhh so now we’re jumping to blaming the palestinians. by your logic, wiping 2 million people off the map is completely justified because of the actions of a few. do you even hear yourself? like genuinely
i think one of the funniest things those dawah bros on tiktok can do is put on the sheikh accent 😭 you can tell when they’re forcing it too cus it sounds exactly like this
@GoldNiteJK
by holding them to the same standard we do with literally every other celebrity. idk why its such a crazy thing to say they should’ve used their platform to speak up about whats going on in palestine instead of remaining silent. this is literally a genocide we’re talking about
@ijbolistani
i’ve been seeing ppl say the same thing with al shabab like thats notttt… they’re still a terrorist group that wreaks havoc on their own people. lets start putting on our thinking caps yall
FULL english translation:
Daughter: When we entered Gaza I told the driver: "just together" meaning I want us to stay together (with her mother) and he told me of course, sure, and we really stayed together, which surprised me.
At first, I had an image in my head that I was
by age 20 every girl should have:
-2 failed situationships
-atleast 1 traumatising friendship
-a dead poetry account
-love for children but the knowledge that bringing kids into this world is pretty cruel
-a lowkey crush on her bestfriend
and also a bank account
“it’ll reflect badly on them” idk about yall but their radio silence has been reflecting badly on them for me for months. the only ones that rly have an “excuse” are seokjin, yoongi, and hobi… as for the rest of them

There are so many ways to skin someone and I think it’s so interesting at the idea of how colorful humans are on the inside!! Organs red n purple and our fat is yellow!! Then fascia are pink! We r walking rainbows :)))
me trying to explain to my friends that its permissible to perform taraweeh while sitting and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it (i don’t wanna be the first to pull out a chair)
Isn’t it interesting that those who push for female higher education always use the (very flawed) “but we need female doctors” argument?
How often do you find that these same women don’t even have an issue with free-mixing to begin with?
Just a thought.
The LAPD is closely monitoring the developments between Iran and Israel. While there are no credible threats to Los Angeles at this time, we are committed to ensuring safeguards to houses of worship and sensitive areas throughout all communities in Los Angeles.
i dont mind ppl posting simple recipe vids to help others but posting your iftar table completely decked out with intricate meals or “what i ate for iftar” seems a little tone def ngl
maybe it’s just me but I kinda find it off-putting seeing muslim influencers posting lavish “iftar inspo” videos rn😅 especially after the flour massacre… idk I know that most of us break our fasts & eat during iftar, but like… does it need to be posted? maybe I’m overthinking
