Pablo was genuine, warm, creative, brilliant. He lived his life and carried out his work more authentically than anyone else I know. He shied away from nothing. He did his very best to confront the very hardest things and he inspired and cajoled all of us to do the same.
So sad to hear this. Pablo was a visionary and his games and other ways of communicating on climate change were transformational. Here are some words from him in a piece I wrote on "climate darkness" - his phrase: "A little bit of light can undo darkness"

One reason why? This is written in such a clear, easy-to-understand way - something that needs to happen much more often if we want more than scientists to understand climate threats. Kudos, Stefan!
"The Oceanography website exploded when we  posted your article ... the shear volume of people who viewed your article is an all time record for us," the editor of Oceanography magazine wrote to me.

These are huge reductions and should be a warning that business as usual is no longer going to be so profitable
#Climatechange is likely to reduce future global income by about 19% until 2050 compared to a world with no climate change, finds new PIK study @Nature with PIK scientist @Leonie_Climate. Most strongly affected are countries like South Asia & Africa. 👉

Think tackling climate change is too expensive? Consider the cost of NOT tackling it
New study: “Temperature increases drive the most economic damages in the future because they’re really the most unprecedented compared to what we’ve experienced historically,” says first author @KotzMaximilian. It harms crops and hinders labor production:
