Not mad about this pre order arriving early at the weekend at all! An excellent follow up to the superb original and one that will have readers on the edge of their seats while laughing hysterically!

Would any primary schools in the North/North West like a first class author visit, but think you can't afford one? Check me out. Great reviews and costs a lot less than you might think! Fee greatly reduced for visits this term. Please share! https://t.co/AMM0OnZYS7 #Edutwitter

Years ago I was doing a drama session on Eyam Plague with Yr5s in role as villagers when a team came in with a video camera & the Yr5s never looked round. There was silence as they considered a key decision after discussion. Children speak when a dramatic context demands it.

I once drove my bright green fiat to my daughter's high school in the 1980s- she was so embarrassed -they called it the Lamborgreeny.

Off to Sir Henry Fermor Primary School today for a performance poetry session with Yr 6. Last year's session was really enjoyable so hoping for a repeat this year. @Scallywagpress

Rather an interesting piece of research from Bryant and Bradley about the pay off from specific play with alliteration and rhyme. ... tuning the ear to hear repeated patterns between words.

My colleague @AndrewEMC shared this with me, from Maryanne Wolf's book, 'Proust and the Squid' on the science of learning to read. Proof of the power of poetry & rhyme in priming children for reading. Having just done a poetry event with 3- 6 yr olds, I need no convincing!

I've had two otherwise keen grand daughters put off school by over punitive rules. They are both well behaved. We need to have a balanced view of behaviour not a rule for everything.

And the adults who are trying to sustain it as well, it's hard to have any enjoyment out of a job that focuses you to catch wrongdoing all the time It makes education so incredibly toxic for everyone It must be contributing massively to retention issues
