Please share: We're looking for a few more *mentors* to join the SSB Mentorship Program by July 5th! I mentored a fantastic botany student (Betsy Collins) last year. Very fulfilling and a welcome change of routine. Highly recommended! Happy to chat with those who are interested.
Our Mentorship Program is back for another year! Each cohort consists of 20 mentoring pairs, and matches between mentees and mentors will be created based on shared interests. The expected duration is one year. Learn more here: Apply by July 5th!

We're excited to run the SSB Mentorship Program for another year. A rewarding experience that only takes ~1 hour/month. Please share with junior and senior researchers who want to see our phylogenetics community grow! More info and link to apply here:

@nparmalee @systbiol @sse_evolution @Biogeography @DiversifyEEB I think often yes for big biomed programs, but more variable among eco/evo programs

@nparmalee @systbiol @sse_evolution @Biogeography @DiversifyEEB no hurry for me, but want to assure students that there is a clear funding plan for 5 years :-) fwiw, where I did my PhD at a big public school, many evo bio students graduated in 6-8 years, taught every semester, funded their own projects, etc. have heard the same from others.

@nparmalee @systbiol @sse_evolution @Biogeography @DiversifyEEB Funding after Y5 comes from teaching, fellowships, other grants (if available), between couch cushions, etc. but would need to be improvised
