@Bishopoftyler Bishop you are doing what the USCCB’s document on Faithful Citizenship tells priests they are not to do. Are you not in union with your brother bishops in the implementation of that document? Don’t agree with it? Then raise that issue at this week’s USCCB meeting.

@Bishopoftyler Bishop, you know the canonical process for the “Dismissal of a priest from the clerical state.” For you to imply that there is reason to call into question such a decision of the Holy See is cause for scandal among the faithful and disrespectful of a Dicastery of the Holy See.

@Bishopoftyler I am stunned that any bishop would post such a negative comment rather than promote World Youth Day. Really? We have 40 individuals associated with our parish at World Youth Day - their excitement to celebrate their Catholic faith & be with Pope Francis is amazing!

@BishStrickland Bishop, please stop trashing Pope Francis. Make it your New Year’s resolution. Embrace his humility. Your negative comments do not evangelize the Christian Faithful. Instead, they scandalize many good and faithful Catholics. Ask, “Am I evangelizing?” before you hit post.

@BishStrickland Bishop Strickland, perhaps because the majority of bishops know and follow the proper procedure for presenting their concerns to the Holy See - which isn’t signing a petition. It is so sad that you persist in stirring people up against the Holy Father, and now brother bishops.

@sscjusa @FrMatthewLC In the canonical process, Father knew exactly why the request was being made of the Holy See, had access to the acts of the case, as well as as an opportunity - through his canonist - to present his defense. For him to claim otherwise is dishonesty.

@TaylorRMarshall If you are going to comment on the current Roman Missal, then please be accurate and state that in that Missal January 1 is the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. That is a major solemnity of the church calendar and not “a bare bones octave of Christmas.”

@Bishopoftyler It’s naive for any cleric to think that posting a video that disparages Pope Francis and calls into question the legitimacy of the Second Vatican Council and the teaching authority of the Church is anything but an endorsement of its content. Clerics, review canons 1740 - 1746.

@RosieGF8 @Bishopoftyler That is a personnel matter between a priest and his Bishop, and is not publicly discussed. The priest would know exactly why the action was taken, and had ample opportunity to present his defense. If the priest involved chooses to disclose such information that is his decision.

@frjohnhollowell A priest’s hands are not consecrated - they are anointed. The anointing is symbolic of what his priestly ministry will be for the Church - to teach, sanctify, and govern in Christ’ name. A sign of his ministry to God’s people. Using your logic, why anoint the head of a bishop?
