This is a new bonus series the Literature and History podcast is releasing on March 15th called "The ACTUAL First Novels" - on five novels all written before 250 CE, in addition to our main show's coverage of other ancient novels. Just finished recording and mixing it.😉

Everyone's telling me that @TheRestHistory is also covering the Merovingians. Just wanted to say FRANKS, guys! 😄 just wrapped up a 4.5-hour, soundtracked sequence on Gregory of Tours' Historia Francorum. The Merovingian court poet Venantius is next.

New episodes from L&H on the Talmud and Gregory of Tours. (Sorry, haven't been on X in a year!) Also, the podcast's website is completely rebuilt and we'll be releasing episodes on the 15th of each month from here on out.

(2 of 2) In the mean time, though, there's another podcast-based tour in Greece coming up very soon (. Late notice, but I'll be there, along with many other kindred spirits. I thought maybe one or two of you in this little community might be interested. 🥰

(1 of 2) It's been a while, and I have some new episodes just about ready for release. (Briefly, work and family responsibilities have kept me away from the mike too much lately, as happens to us indie podcasters sometimes.) But. . .

@wildlowerwolves I hear you @wildlowerwolves. It is very, very strange stuff. CoG 14.23-24, for anyone who wants to hear someone obsessed with sex, who hated sex, describe what sex might have been like in a world without evil.

@Alejandro27655 He's objectively both, but due to his other work (on logic, categories, and formal philosophy more generally), I'd nudge him a little further into Late Antiquity.

@mdthornb I think Jerome (#98) to the end of Augustine (#102) is a good connected set. Boethius lived a century after them, so he can be understood in isolation.

@genologos I'm always surprised when I'm hanging out in, say, Religious Studies and hear a clunky generalization about Greco-Roman civilization (or vice versa). I don't have a solution - my rambling generalism isn't great for specialization, but I definitely understand!

@mbaffldtwiffeed Yes, we went to the Nekromanteion of Acheron. I'm not sure about nexuses of existence, but it was definitely an interesting archaeological site, today thought to perhaps just have been a cistern.

@Crypto_tauros I think I'll be on every AGD tour going forward. It was too much fun to miss. Jack is an absolutely perfect guide. 😀
