We found 4 vials of
#poliovirus
vaccine candidates sent by A. Sabin to A. Lwoff in 1960 and never opened since !
We managed to sequence 3 of them and isolate 2 of them …we got some surprises… to be followed…

Watch how the coronavirus nefariously infiltrates the cells of a bat brain in this video, taken by Sophie-Marie Aicher and Delphine Planas, which received an honorable mention in the 2021 Nikon Small World in Motion Competition.
We discovered a new mechanism by which viruses counteract the IFN response 🤩

First titrations of 🦇 flaviviruses by in-cell Western. Good news, the pan-flavi anti-Env allowed the titration of all bat flaviviruses, even the ones belonging to the ‘no known vector’ group 🥳

Pretty cool bat-shaped fluorescent multi-nucleated cells 😍😎
Nice Journal Club discussion today. Intriguing possibility. RIG-I may block SARS-CoV-2 replication in a MAVS-independent manner by displacing the polymerase from the viral genome (and may explain why there is no replication in A549 cells) 🤔🤔
@NatImmunol
the anti-dsRNA ab (very) commonly used by RNA virologists to identify viral dsRNAs in infected cells probably recognizes cellular dsRNAs too. Some of these are generated from decay of intronic and intergenic transcripts folded as RNA duplexes.
Intense Western blotting session to address the reviewers’ comments (our hopefully-soon-to-be-published story on IFN evasion by tick-borne flaviviruses). Go Ségo 💪💪
Very happy to receive funding

Proud of our lab member Ségolène that obtained her master degree in Virology today with the highest possible grade!! VAE (‘validation des acquis de l'expérience’), is a great French process that allows people with sufficient professional experience to obtain diplomas 🥰😍🥳
We have a lab logo ! Designed by

😍 V2S stands for ‘Virus Sensing and Signaling’ … as for the turkey, it is our mascot – based on a long-lasting lab joke (explanation on demand 😉)
Submitting a paper is SOOOOO satisfactory!
(even if it may be followed by rejection/resubmission/revisions)
It should be online in a few days as a preprint (spoiler SARS-CoV-2 and bat cells 🦇🦇)
